Orange is the New Black Week x Sunday Brunch: Pumpkin Oatmeal

As Orange is the New Black Week comes to a close here on BTR, I bring to you a Sunday Brunch special: pumpkin oatmeal. While I don’t usually consider oatmeal to be particularly “brunchy”, colder weather is, unfortunately, on its way.

What you’ll need:
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 1/4 cup water
1 1/2 tbsp canned pumpkin
Almond milk
Pumpkin pie spice
Cinnamon

Directions:
Bring the water to a boil in a small pot. Add in the oats and stir with a large spoon. Let it cook on medium heat for about 2 minutes. Then, stir in the pumpkin and cook for another minute. Pour in a bit of almond milk as well as a dash each of pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon. Stir and cook for another minute or so until it reaches the desired consistency. Serve in bowls.

Personally, I’ve always been a big fan of oatmeal. It’s filling, healthy, and extremely simple to make, so in the colder months I eat it almost every day. Thankfully, oatmeal is also complementary to so many other foods, so it’s easy to change up the ingredients.
