Orange is the New Black Week: Pumpkin Fries

Today kicks off Orange is the New Black Week here on BTR, so Dish + Drink will be doing a whole week of autumnal foods. This is the first time I tried pumpkin fries, but it definitely won’t be the last.

What you’ll need:
1 cooking pumpkin
1/2 tsp fresh ground nutmeg
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
Extra virgin olive oil

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 425.

Peel the pumpkin before slicing it in half. Slice the pumpkin into french fry shapes and spread the fries out on a cookie sheet. Sprinkle the spices evenly over the fries and drizzle a generous amount of olive oil across the pan. Bake for approximately 25-30 minutes and serve.

Depending on the shape of the cooking pumpkin, it can be a bit difficult to slice it into true french fry shapes. They will still taste great, though, so don’t be too wary of the weird shapes you might wind up with.
