Once Monday rolls around, we often feel the weekend’s debauchery in our body. Our bones ache and our stomach reels from the inordinate amount of alcohol we’ve consumed.

Sometimes, coffee just isn’t enough to get us back into working shape for the week ahead; and that’s when it’s time to turn to the incredibly healing properties of ingredients we have hanging around our kitchens. This recipe is a great alternative to coffee or tea. It has powerful anti-inflammatory and liver supporting benefits!

Because of its color, and maybe its preciousness, this soothing drink is called Golden Milk. And here’s how you make it:

Put about half a teaspoon of powdered turmeric in a cup. You can also get fresh turmeric root, and grind or pulverize it instead of using the common, powder form. Add one teaspoon of coconut oil, you can also use butter or ghee–this helps the absorption of the turmeric. Add a few grinds of cracked black pepper. Heat some milk on the stove, then pour the milk over the ingredients, stir, and enjoy!
