I’ve recently been working to cut down on my fat intake and one of the best ways for me to do that is to eliminate cream cheese. Personally, getting rid of cream cheese altogether is next to impossible.
Instead, I’m replacing it with Greek yogurt in almost all of my dishes (bagels need cream cheese though, so don’t think they don’t). By doing so in this particular dish, I am also adding an element of protein that didn’t already exist, making this a great brunch snack as well as a solid breakfast.
This recipe is about as easy as they come and works well as both a single serving for a brunch side dish alongside eggs or as a brunch party item. If you are serving this at a party, switch out the full slice of bread for crostini bread so that guests can pair it with your cheese plate or fruit platter.
What you’ll need:
1 slice panella bread
1 1/2 tbsp plain nonfat Greek yogurt
1 tsp fig jam
Toast the bread to taste. Then, spread the Greek yogurt and fig jam on top to serve.
