Before we start looking ahead to what’s to come this year, I’d like to take a look back on 2013. After all, it is Best of 2013 Week here on BTR and some of last year’s dishes were just too good not to take a second look.

This has been one of my favorite dishes since my father and I started making it years ago, but for the purposes of this article it doesn’t get the number one spot. Everything else on this list I made for the first time in 2013, but no list of my favorite dishes is complete without this one.
I saw these first on Pinterest and knew I had to try them out for myself. They are always a hit with friends and are also the perfect on-the-go breakfast in that they are packaged like muffins, but contain more nutritional value.
This was one of my earliest posts for Dish + Drink so I often forget about them. Still, these are wonderfully healthy, filling, and packed with flavor. Thankfully, the ingredients are typically available year-round, so you don’t have to wait until the summer to grill them.
These cookies were the biggest hit of my fall season in 2013. I made them for various parties and gatherings per requests, but they do require a bit of work. It’s always helpful to have a friend in the kitchen for these.
When I first made this soup I had no idea how it would turn out, but it seems I’ve found a new summer staple. The soup is both cold and spicy as well as creamy and light, making it near perfect for a hot summer evening. Shelf this recipe and pull it out in June. You’ll be glad you did.
