Over the past year, I’ve managed to rack up quite a few Mexican-themed recipes here on Dish + Drink. In the spirit of last minute Cinco de Mayo preparation, I’m revisiting 10 of my favorites: four drinks and six dishes.

This cocktail is the most recent installment in my collection of Mexican-themed cocktail recipes. It has a slight bite to it thanks to the tabasco sauce, but is overall a rather refreshing alternative to the classic margarita.
Shandies are some of my favorite beers for spring and summer because they combine the quintessential idea of a cold beer on a hot day with the similar concept of lemonade on a hot day. Add tequila to the mix and you’ve got yourself the perfect beer cocktail to drink all afternoon long.
While we’re on the topic of beer cocktails, the michelada is a fan favorite. I took this one a step further and turned it into a bloody mary crossover, which makes it a great drink for lunchtime.
Speaking of tomato juice and weird bloody mary fusions, the tomato habanero dirty martini is amongst my all-time favorite cocktails. Be cautious with this one though because the heat is serious. I typically don’t drink more than one of these at a time.
I love serving deviled eggs as an appetizer whenever I have guests. Instead of forgoing them for a Cinco de Mayo-themed party, make your deviled eggs to fit the theme. Mango salsa and avocado make these a light and sweet alternative to classic deviled eggs.
Warning: This stuff is not for the faint of heart. I first found it in a grocery store back in college and am still hooked. Now that I’ve figured out how to make my own, I’ve also had to relearn what the word “willpower” means.
Serve this corn salad alongside the deviled eggs or just before the chili.
What’s Cinco de Mayo without some chili?
If chili isn’t for you, go for these lighter fare beer and lime brined chicken tenders. These are extremely easy to make and come out as juicy as possible. They’re the perfect finger food to serve with some michelada marys.
Last, but certainly not least, is one of my all-time favorite Dish + Drink recipes to date: quinoa black bean burgers served with avocado yogurt sauce. These are pretty easy to make and come out great. They’re perfect for vegetarian guests, but even meat eaters will want one.
