Five Leaves is one of those places that I’ve been hearing about forever, yet somehow never managed to eat at until recently, when my boyfriend and I stopped in for a very special dinner.
I only wish that I’d made that plunge sooner; the food is absolutely out of this world! It’s mouthwateringly, tantalizingly, deliciously come-back-for-more stuff-your-face eat-till-you’re-beyond-full good.
Allow me to elaborate:
For small plates, the order was as follows: Devils on Horseback (Bacon wrapped medjool dates with almonds and balsamic glaze), Fried Oysters, and Kale Salad. Every dish had a unique and nuanced flavor profile, each one better than the last.
Did I mention I was two grapefruit margaritas deep by the time we finished our appetizers?
For entrees, we opted for Mussels with saffron coconut sauce, chilies, scallions & grilled sourdough as well as the Chicken; which came with Hen Of The Wood mushrooms and chive dumplings.
These were the type of perfectly composed dishes that you can tell were planned and executed with an intense amount of thought and passion. We ordered far too much food for the two of us, but we ate until we simply couldn’t anymore–because the food was that good.
If you’re in the vicinity, do yourself a favor and visit Five Leaves for a meal. Your stomach and your taste-buds will thank you.
