Mr Jason
HAYBABY - I was lucky enough to catch this band at a basement gig in a less than salubrious venue recently, and I got in touch straight away, asking them to do an OSS session. I'm glad they said yes, as they're a lot of fun, and lovely people as well. I hope that comes across. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, Jason and Nan still have the incredible Classic Album "I'm Scared" by Jacobs Mouse; and the Album Of The Month is Dr Dog's new offering, which is sterling indeed. Oh, and there's also some other stuff, but you'll find that out.. Seriously, you will hang around and listen, right? Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Iain and Jason are in fine fettle, fine form, eating fine fare, and talking fine phrases. I was tempted to spell phrases with an "f" then, hehe, which would've been pretty funny.. (I wish I'd have had the nerve now..) Anyway, I must move on. This life won't live itself without me. Will it?!? That'd be pretty weird.. Awesome idea for a movie though! Note to self: Arrange a meeting with my agent, Chas Strangler, immediately, post haste! Oh, yeah, so we're gonna play some music, and talk an' that.. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
Another Funk-A-Licious show for you boys & girls from the one, the only Mr Jason & his dashingly handsome sidekick, Dr Patel. This week the show is self sponsored by 'Kershaws Quality Foods'... Can They Radio It? Let Us Kick It & See!
RATS AS BIG AS DOGS - I go back a long way with the various members of this band, apart from Oliver Swift, who I don't think I've ever met. He's dead to me. Hehe. Jay I met during the first week that I worked in Thetford Music, a local Mon & Pop (mainly Pop) musical instrument shop in Thetford, in the U of the K. We quickly became friends, and have been for over 20 years now, at one point being in a hardcore band called "Volunteers" together. Shannon I met when she did her highschool Work Experience at Old School Studios, when she was about 15. Reuben I met when he was in teen-garage sensations "Thee Vicars", whose early gigs I booked, and I recorded most of their back-catalogue. This band is unlike any of their previous bands, though I guess it has tiny elements of each of them. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
Well, it's cold outside, but it's warm in bed, so why not let me tuck you into the Planet Beet Bed of Music, and then you can settle down with a cup of Audio Cocoa, and appreciate the soothing sounds, creeping across the airways of your mind. This week, our Album Of The Month is Phantom Family Halo & Francis Jewel' "Don't Be Afraid Of The Jungle, our Classic Album is Paul Weller's seminal "Wild Wood", and we're also featuring Subsonics' brand new LP "In The Black Spot", which is out now on Slovenly Records. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This weeks show is presented by Iain on his own as Jason is away making holiday fun in New York! Never fear as there is still a whole pant load of great college related music to be heard with favourites old and new! Come on... Let's radio!
MAMMAL HANDS - This week, my very attractive young friends, we have something a bit different. Last week we had the orchestral stylings of Wooden Arms, and this week it's the jazzy, almost trip-hop in places, instrumental leanings of Mammal Hands. I am not very good at putting bands into genres, so it's probably best that you ignore that, and just listen to the damn session. OK? Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, our Album Of The Month is Phantom Family Halo & Francis Jewel' "Don't Be Afraid Of The Jungle, which is AWESOME, and our Classic Album is Paul Weller's seminal "Wild Wood", which you lucky people can buy from our friends at Yeproc Records. We're also featuring Subsonics' brand new LP "In The Black Spot", which is out now on Slovenly Records. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Jason plays you the best that the UK College Music "scene" has to offer. Or does he...? YOU be the judge! But keep your opinions to yourself! It isn't ALL about you y'know! Oh, and enjoy the show! Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
Mr Jason & Dr Patel hit you in the face once again with another hour of the finest Funk & Soul. Can they kick it? Let us radio and see..
WOODEN ARMS - About time! We've been trying to book Wooden Arms for a session for months now, and due to busy schedules it took a bit of doing, but it's finally here! So, we dusted off the ol' Grand Piano, put on our orchestral hats, and this session turned out to be a real doozy. So why not settle down into your listening chair, and see what happens? Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, our brand new Album Of The Month is Phantom Family Halo & Francis Jewel' "Don't Be Afraid Of The Jungle, which is AWESOME, and our Classic Album is Paul Weller's seminal "Wild Wood", which you lucky people can buy from our friends at Yeproc Records. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Jason is still hawking the debut single by Norwich-ish band "Port Isla". He's also debuting a bunch of new stuff, and playing the new single by Admiral Fallow, which is out this coming week. I don't know if you can say fairer than that. "Fairer than that!". Oh, OK, smart-arse.. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
JACK POUT & THE DIRT LEVEL - Eagle-eared listeners will already be familiar with Jack Pout's music, as he did a solo session for us not too many months back. And after a recent Old School Private Party, during the All-Star Jam, Jack, Conor, and various band members, got up and played a few of his songs. It seemed perfect timing to get his new band into the studio for the session you see/hear before you. By the way, if you do have Eagle ears, I'd love to see a photo. I mean, if they're attached to your head; not just on a plate or something.. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, it's our last week of featuring The Brats as our Classic Band/Album, and playing songs from Oceanographer's new LP, although we'll of course continue featuring loads of other cool stuff, all from under the blankets in the Planet Beet Bed. Lots of new stuff actually on this week's show so tuck in! Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
So, it's a bitter sweet show today, AGAIN, as it's looking like Iain & Jason's cover is nearly blown. Will Inspector Dexter find out their REAL identities, or will our dream team keep him running around like a pig in a parking lot? Come on, whatd'ya say?... Let's radio!
This week, Mr Jason brings you something old (himself), something new (his haircut), something borrowed (most of his jokes), and something blue (most of his jokes), yet somehow he still manages to find time to be debonaire, dashing, and debonaire. Oh, I already said debonaire.. Hmm, what else.. Deelovely? Can he kick it? Let's Radio And See!
THE DONKEYS - Today we have for you an awesome live set from San Diego's "The Donkeys". The first half of the session is recorded with mics, and the 2nd half is direct from the mixing desk. Please forgive the transition.. This set was recorded live on location at New York's awesome Cakeshop, where we would recommend that you go, just like, generally! Great gluten free cakes there too, which is good for me, as I'm gluten free. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
Today is Jason's ACTUAL Special Birthday Special, and the show couldn't be more packed full of jam if we wanted it to be. There's lots of special birthday answerphone messages from various PB regulars, and much more besides. Let's hope the show doesn't end up being a giant anticlimax... Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Jason debut's the debut single by Norwich-ish band "Port Isla". Not only that, but he then sophomores it as well! WOW! Oh, and the single's called "Sinking Ship". It has a great video, and you can download it for FREE for your very own, from www.portisla.com. DO IT! As Nike would say, if we'd ever let them get their corporate claws into us. (clue - we definitely would!). Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
SOLKO - It's not often we get to record reggae bands around here in sunny Norwich in the U of the K, so today's rather refreshing. Listen to all the warm, crunchy, analogue goodness, put on your skanking slippers, and most importantly, make sure you at some point leave the house, and go and catch Solko playing live, in a venue near you. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, we're featuring The Brats as our Classic Band/Album, playing songs from Oceanographer's new LP, as well as featuring loads of other cool stuff, all from under the blankets in the Planet Beet Bed. I'll do what I like, cos Iain's away in Norway (you can't make this stuff up!) putting the finishing touches to his new reality TV show "It's Your Way Lorway, Or The Norway". Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Jason debut's awesome Bury St Edmunds soup-or-group "Rats As Big As Dogs", whilst trying not to shudder at the thought of seeing a rat as big as a dog. Oh, and listen out again, cos he has another new track from Steph and Loraine Hope's new project, "Girls Least Likely To". Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
Well, after last fortnight's storming "Foreigners Special", it remains to be seen whether or not we can keep up that kind of pace with today's show.. Am I worried? No freakin way Hose B! Cos we've got an absolutely packed full of jam show, and some stupid banter to back it up. Can We Radio It? Let Us Kick It & See!
OWL MUSEUM - Well, that was a fun night! It was another Private Party at the Studios of the Old School, and a good time was had by all, including these handsome young fellas, Owl Museum. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, it's the 2nd of our 2 part "New York Special", cos I'm on holiday here. So, we're featuring The Brats as our Classic Band/Album, playing songs from Oceanographer's new LP, as well as featuring loads of other cool stuff. If you want to know exactly what stuff, I suggest you shut your eyes, open wide, and trust me.. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Jason is drawing to the end of his Holiday in New York. He survived Hurricane Sandy, and is back to play you a bunch of new tracks by UK College based artists. Listen out especially for the two new tracks from Steph and Loraine Hope's new project, "Girls Least Likely To". Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
KINGS & CROWS - I heard this band on the BBC in the UK, which is almost endorsement enough in itself. I immediately hassled my glamorous assistant Conor to book them at our soonest convenience, and hence here we are, only two months later, and they're coming in your ears on this very wavelength! Hows about that! It's a really fun session, and I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This month's Classic Album is still Boards Of Canada, and the Album Of The Month is still by the awesome Transept! The highlight of the show is probably the 2nd phonecall from Jason's bookie, who it turns out has a marvelous sense of rhythm. Who knew!
This week, Iain and The Jayman scale the very heights of entertainment, to see if there's anything up there worth stealing. Turns out they were already at the top of their game, and just didn't realize it. Oh well, same old same old then.. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
This week, Mr Jason is flying solo, but is kept company by some of the best new and old funk & soul tracks that he can find. There's some proto-rap, some middle-eastern sinspired afro-jazz-funk, and various other stuff to seal the deal. Can he kick it? Let's Radio And See!
ASK LYDIA - I first saw this band play at B2 in Norwich, and so when Conor (my glamorous assistant) suggested booking them for a session I was more than in agreement. I spot bits of Postcard infuence, like Orange Juice, which can only be a good thing. Go and see them, if you're in our neck of the woods, OK? Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, it's a sort of "New York Special", cos I'm on holiday here. So, we're continuing our current Album Of The Month, which is "Verizon Shine" by NYC's very own "Rifle Recoil", and playing songs from Oceanographer's new LP, as well as featuring the best Power Pop band in existence, The Brats, and much, much more.. Oh, and during the show, I mispronounce Eddie Clendening's name. Sorry about that. I blame the flu.. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
It's the Valentines Day Special! And to celebrate, we won't be mentioning that fact for the whole show.. It's also the continuing saga of "Find Jason A Girlfriend/Wife", and Nan pulls many faces; none of which really transfer well to the format of "radio". Come on, whatd'ya say?... Let's radio!
MY VISOR - This is sort-of a Return Visit for My Visor, as the did an Old School Studios session a few years ago, back when we were in a barn in the countryside. But this is their first time playing one of our famed Private Parties, and it definitely won't be their last. I've been a big fan of theirs for ages, so I'm ever so glad they played. Hopefully you'll think so too. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, Iain & Jason amuse themselves by pretending that they're making a radio show that can be heard all around the world, via some magical form of communication, where people just look at screens and press buttons, and sounds somehow eminate from the general vicinity of said screen, towards their ears and minds. Pie in the sky.. Album Of The Month is "Verizon Shine" by NYC's very own "Rifle Recoil", and Classic Album is "The Execution Of All Things" by "Rilo Kiley". Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Iain and Jason are both developing the flu virus. But does that stop them from being their regular entertaining and vital selves? Well, yeah, it sort of does actually.. But they'll still be playing excellent music by College-based artistes from the U of the K won't they? Yes, yes they will. That's a start! Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
This week, Mr Jason is flying solo, only with his Funk & Soul License to keep him company. And his legions of fans, lining the airwaves. And with his comfortable soul trousers, and funk gloves on. And with his cup of PG Tips tea. But apart from that, he's by himself. Can he kick it? Let's Radio And See!
ICHICUTS - This session was a lot of fun. Ichicuts are one of the most hands-on and creative duos I've ever met. They built their own studio, and they make equipment, and they make flightcases for their equipment stations, and they drive around in an Ambulance of all things. I've had a great time hanging out with Gordon and Erik, and hopefully you will too for the next 30 minutes. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, Iain & Jason eat snacks, talk rubbish, and play records by bands they like, and in Iain's case, don't like. What's changed eh listener? Well, they amuse themselves, and that's a start. The new Album Of The Month is "Verizon Shine" by NYC's very own "Rifle Recoil".
HEART OF A DOG - It's a welcome return visit from Norwich's Heart Of A Dog this week. They return with some new songs, and we hope you have a relaxing time listening to their session. It was of course recorded to analogue tape, the way God would've intended, if she'd still be alive (R.I.P). So, put on your blue suede slippers, and settle down in your favourite armchair in preparation. Oh, by the way, their song "Fall Guy" isn't a cover of the Lee Majors TV themetune, unfortunately. Still, give 'em a chance, eh? Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, Jason is flying solo, as Iain is busy curating The John Peel Archive's exhibiton at Norwich Arts Centre, for this years Norwich Sound & Vision and John Peel New Music Festival. So, make sure you get along to that if you can. In the meantime, satisfy your new music cravings with this completely packed full of jam show. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Iain and Jason cliff-dive, metaphorically speaking.. First, they hang by their very fingernails over the cliff off embarrassment, whilst playing some UK College based music of the highest order. Then, watch as they leap off into the misty ether of chat. Mission successful? You be the judge.. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
The Good Doctor Patel is back from the grave, singing "Hallelujah", in a (bedside) manner of speaking. Jason couldn't be happier to see him, and after the show is over he will pay him in kind, just like the good ol' days! There's something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue on today's show. Or is there?!? Let's Radio And See!
HOST - This week, we have another live set from our recent Old School Studios Private Party. I think this one was party number 16? I'm not completely sure though, as the last 4-5 parties have passed in one long drunken haze. They've all been a lot of fun, and this latest one was no exception. Lorna, the singy, flutey girl from Host is a great showbiz buddy of mine, and it was great to get to see her doing her thing, at my studio, in front of a load of lovely people. That's sounds a bit more sinister than I meant it to sound.. Sorry about that. Basically, Lorna's awesome, and that's that! Anyway, back to the music. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, not only do Iain and Jason STILL have "Album Of The Month" and "Record Label Of The Month", in the shape of Rob Marr's "Anatomy" and Norwich's very, very, VERY own label, "Gravy Records", and "Classic Album" (Henry's Dress' 10" LP), they also have some hilarious banter about websites, boobs, gossip, and all the other aspects of life that we all hold dear. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Iain and Jason overthrow a maniacal opressor, simply with the strength of their characters, their dashing good looks, rapier wit, and £10,000,000 worth of awesome fire-power. Oh, and they also play some UK College based music whilst they're at it. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
BEAST WITH A GUN - Yep, it's that time again ladels & jellyspoons! It's the next in our long, distinguished line of private parties at the Studio they like to call Old of School. This week we have a storming and very drunken set from Beast With A Gun, who've been off the scene for a few years, but are back with authority. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, not only do Iain and Jason have "Album Of The Month" and "Record Label Of The Month", in the shape of Rob Marr's "Anatomy" and Norwich's very, very, VERY own label, "Gravy Records", and "Classic Album" (Henry's Dress' 10" LP), they also have an unexpected (and unwanted) visit from Jason's landlord to contend with. Don't worry, there'll also be some hilarious off-the-cuff, straight-off-the-dome adlibs, and cheeky banter. Or at least, that's what it says here.. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
Jason won't be on next week's show, so appreciated him (me) while it/he lasts. Stuff from bands and that.. And excellent and amusing chat from the dream duo. And in exciting news, we find out that Iain's email address, lain@planetbeet.co.uk DOES work, and that unfortunately noone has ever emailed him on it. Give it a go! You might get a prize! Let's Radio!
The Good Doctor Patel is away on his rounds, spreading miss bedside manner as thinly as time will allow. He's left Mr Jason all on his lonesome, to feed you some tasty funk & soul morsels, and hopefully this solo flight won't disappoint. Let's Radio And See!
THE PIRATONES - Hopefully, some of you will remember a session I recorded with The Rum Larkers a while back? That was the embryonic name that The Piratones went under for a few gigs, before they changed to their current moniker. Over the last 18 months the band has tightened up, added more great songs to their set, and are about to head off on their first UK Tour, so do make sure you show them your support, if they play in your neck of the woods. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, Iain and Jason have a few exclusives, and both a new "Album Of The Month" and "Record Label Of The Month", in the shape of Rob Marr's "Anatomy" and Norwich's very, very, VERY own label, "Gravy Records". Don't worry, there'll also be some hilarious off-the-cuff, straight-off-the-dome adlibs, and cheeky banter. Or at least, that's what it says here.. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Iain and Jason have a few exclusives, with songs old and new, from people yound and old, and new, and banter that ended up accidentally being a little wittier than it was supposed to be, because they got confused and thought that they were doing the Planet Beet show. Take advantage of their mistake while you can. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
ROB MARR - My friend and co-host, Sir Iain L'Orwey, puts on a bi-weekly acoustic-ish gig night at Cinema City in Norwich, called OST, or Original Soundtrack. One of the regular musical guests there is Rob Marr, and so that is how I first got to hear Rob, and I'm very please indeed to have the chance to bring him to your ears via the medium of quality radio. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This month's Classic Album is still Boards Of Canada, and the Album Of The Month is still by the awesome Transept! The highlight of the show is probably the 2nd phonecall from Jason's bookie, who it turns out has a marvellous sense of rhythm. Who knew! Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, messrs Iain and Jason bring you a soon-to-be classic show, featuring all your favourites (depending on who you are), some exclusives, and the debut of Iain's long-awaited theme tune. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
Boy! And girl! Do we (I) have a show for you this week! I'll have to check the itinirararary, but I'm faaaairly sure we do. "Doctor Patel, do we have a show today". "No, the show was eaten by a monkey called "Ivan" that was estranged from his family." Oh, well, in the place of the show, here's another show.. Also new, and also featuring the soothing tones of Messrs Jason & Patel. Let's Radio And See!
POPOP @ OLD SCHOOL PRIVATE PARTY #15 - Yet ANOTHER awesome party that only a select few were invited to. Jealous? Oh... Well, you bally-well SHOULD be, cos we had two whales of a time. Aside from the awesome musical acts (Popop, Mulch & Transept), there was also great DJing from Malice & Mr Jason, and then we ended up having a sort of Full Band Karaoke, where Malice would put on a record (an 80s hit), and whoever was in the room would join in on all the band instruments, and singing, all of which was running through the PA system. It was loud, rawkus, and a lorra lorra fun! Anyway, you last week heard Mulch & Transept, and this week you get to hear "POPOP" Live @ Old School Studios Private Party #15. Plus, there's a bonus session at the end from The Covert Stylist, plucked from our vaults, recorded at Monkeyboy Studio in Cambridge in 1999. Monkeyboy Studios was my pre-Old School Studios studio. Hope you enjoy it. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This month's Classic Album is by Boards Of Canada, and the Album Of The Month is by the awesome Transept! Listen out for Transept on this week's "Live @ Old School Studios", with part of their set from most recent Private Party @ Old School Studios. This week, Iain & Jason are so inspired by Booda French, that they try their hands at doing professional rap singing. Too good to miss? You be the judge. But keep your opinions to yourself.. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, messrs Iain and Jason bring you more exclusives from the likes of Jess Wilson, Milly Hirst, and the weekly Port Isla new song of course. Oh, and don't forget to appreciate Iain & Jason's hilarious between song banter, as they won't be around forever. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
MULCH & TRANSEPT @ OLD SCHOOL PRIVATE PARTY #15 - Yet ANOTHER awesome party that only a select few were invited to. Jealous? Oh... Why not? Well, you should be, cos this one was a LOT of fun. Anyway, you don't get to hear that, but you do get to hear Mulch & Transept, Live @ Old School Studios Private Party #15. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This month's Classic Album is by Boards Of Canada, and there's a new Album Of The Month by the awesome Transept! Transept played at the most recent Private Party @ Old School Studios too, so look out for the highlights of their live set soon on our sister show, "Live @ Old School Studios"! Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, messrs Iain and Jason bring you an exclusive preview of the new hit single by Adam Tewitt & Crystal Maths. It features professional rapping, scratching, and singing, and it shouldn't be missed. Do you best anyway.. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
Boy! And girl! Do we (I) have a show for you this week! Yes. The answer is yes. Dr Patel is back,, with his healing hands, and his bedside manner. And better than that, it's his BIRTHDAY SPECIAL, all day! So, I let the good Doctor pick most of the tracks today, with a little guidance from my helpful/wandering hand.. Let's Radio And See!
CHAD MASON - Let me start off by saying that Chad Mason is a gentlemen, and a thoroughly lovely fella. A "fella cutie" if you will... (that's an afrobeat joke..) This week, we come from on location, location, location, at Norwich's "Cinema City", where every other Tuesday it's "O.S.T" night! Chad is a regular there, both solo, and playing in other bands, such as The Winter Visitors, and Ben Grizzly & The Loose Leaf Drifters, and probably many others that I've temporarily forgotten about. Harken, and lend him your ears.. Chad Mason. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This month's Classic Album is by Boards Of Canada, and the Album Of The Month is by St Helena. Do remember to pick up one of the limited edition of Agent Ribbons' "Family Haircut" tape, on "Cassingle And Lovin It", which is the best label name I've heard in a while. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, messrs Iain and Jason will be attempting to brainwash and hypnotize you, with their dulcet tones, and music choices. Try to read between the lines, and you should be able to work out what they mean. It's not deep, I'll say that much.. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
PATRICK SALT RYAN - I was lucky enough to be at some of the opening nights of a new venue called The Grand Victory, and even luckier to get to record this set from Patrick Salt Ryan. He's quite a ragged genius, and his hardcore followers lapped up every second. He's also very entertaining, and just a really warm and friendly person, and I hope I get to see him play again soon. I also recorded sets by Mike Ireland (from I Am The Avalanche) and a few other great people that same night, so you might get to hear some of those recordings on future shows. I'll have to check the tapes to see how it all turned out. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, we're dedicating the show to Thee Vicars' guitarist, Chris Langeland, who died last week. Chris helped Jason establish Old School Studios, by helping him out on lots of the early Live @ Old School Studios sessions, and they also played music together in various bands, including The Gee Gees, and The Deets. Sleep well Chris.. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, the show is dedicated to my old good friend Chris Langeland, who died last week. He was an incredible person, and he made a lot of great music. We'll be playing lots of songs by Thee Vicars, who he played lead guitar with. Chris was my glamourous assistant at Old School Studios when we were based in Bury St Edmunds, and we played together in a few bands, such as The Gee Gees, and The Deets. Please tune in tomorrow for Planet Beet, as we'll be cramming in a few more Thee Vicars classics then too. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
Boy! And girl! Do we (I) have a show for you this week! Yes. The answer is yes. No Dr Patel this week, as he's out on his rounds, with his healing hands, and his bedside manner. But I can more than make up for that, with a "Record Kicks Special". Yes, that's correct, I'll be featuring lots of hits from the Record Kicks label's catalogue. And also, a special exclusive Phone Interview with Nick, the head of the label! Let's Radio And See!
POPOP - As many of you will know, Death Of Discotheque were one of my favourite local Norwich bands. They did an OSS session for me a few years ago when they started, and before that I'd recorded Jay & Whit's previous band, Ray Brower, when Old School Studios was in one of its previous locations. So it was only natural that I'd bring back Jay, with his new project "Popop" at his earliest convenience. Now, this is sort of acting as a test run for when Popop play at the next Old School Party in a few weeks time. That should be a real doozy! Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, the funny bone of our audience member (Hi Brian!) is gonna be well and truely tickled, to within an inch of his wife! There's some PB favourites, some brand new stuff, and some ever-so-gentle boundary-pushing. Don't be afraid! We're amateur-fessionals! Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, our boys in blue (and other colours) are up to no good again. Apart from the music, which is sterling. This is what happens when you put two comedy geniuses in the same room, with a microphone. OK, maybe "genius" is too strong a word.. Replace "geniuses" with "friends", and "room" with "bed", and we're on the right track. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
MULCH - Last week I had a great one-off session with my friend's Tom and Taz. Tom had contacted me a few weeks beforehand with a vague idea about recording a piece of music for his beautiful girlfriend Ros' birthday, and I was more than happy to be asked to be a part of it. Tom had vague ideas for a few musical themes, and he said he was gonna wing the rest. I got the grand piano tuned, and setup a drumkit, bass amp, guitar amp, and a mic for vocals. Tom then played two pieces on piano, and left a gap between them. Tom then moved onto bass guitar, with Taz joining him on the drums. They proceeded to play a 10+ minute piece involving three movements (with a reprise of the first movement at the end), which was half planned, and half improvised. This was done in ONE take. Then Tom added guitar (one take) and vocals (one take). I mixed it, mastered it, and we then went home, tired and happy. The piece is called Fur Dhampir, which means For Vampire. There's supposed to be umlauts on a bunch of the letters, but I can't work out how to do that, so just imagine it.
This week, Michael Jay Phoxe and Bigtime Bongo Man lock Iain and Jason out of the studio, and host the whole show themselves. I can't se we're happy about being locked out of the studio in the rain, with a wolf running around. But hey, let's roll with it and see what happens. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Jason is joined by his good ol' buddy, Iain Lowery. Yep, that's right, the old team is back together! So expect fireworks, of the radio variety. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
What's up my bunnies! Well, it's Dr Patel and The Jayman of course, and they're only ever up to no good, that's for sure. But, this week, they have a "Tramp Records Special", so there's no way it can be any less than funk & soul gold, right? Don't worry listener, I'm sure they'll find some way to ruin proceedings in style.. Let's Radio And See!
JACK POUT - I recently saw Jack gigging at The Walnut Tree Shades, which is my favouritely named local pub. And then when my friend Conor suggested Jack for a session, I thought that would be great. And well, it IS! I hope you enjoy it. I noticed tiny flecks of Billy Bragg, Dr Feelgood, and other great influences. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
Well, this week it's the Jayman on his sweet lonesome again, which can mean only one thing... DISCOOOOOOO WORKOOOOOOUUUUUUTTTTT! So, if sound more out of breath than usual throughout the show, you'll know why. Seriously, that will definitely be the real reason.. I guess I'll just play what the heck I want, AGAIN, and Iain can't do anything about it, cos he ain't bloody well here. :o) Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
The UK College Music show features the best music from Uk Music students old and new! This week Jason is away so Iain is taking the reigns and pressing the buttons, who knows what will happen? This weeks show features some great UK Hip Hop from Diagnostic - who by the way is a tutor at the local Access to Music college!?
THE ALL-STAR JAM - Well, where to start.. OK, it was my Birthday Party last month, and we'd had a couple of fantastic bands playing (Madames Et Monsieur, then Juke & The All-Drunk Orchestra), and we'd had people DJing, and light projections happening, and eating cakes, and lots of drinking drinks. The scene was set for the customary "All Star Jam", including members of the aforementioned Madames Et Monsieur, Juke & The All-Drunk Orchestra, plus members of Deadbeats, The Great Shakes, The Loose Leaf Drifters, and possibly more, which I have forgotten. It was certainly fun for us, and as I staggered home with Chad Mason at 6:30am I was happy that I'd had such a fantastic birthday. I understand however that most of you guys weren't there, so listening to this might be akin to pulling teeth.. With that in mind: Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
Well, this week it's the Jayman on his sweet lonesome, which can mean only one thing... FOOOOOOOOOOOD FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHTTTTTTTTTTTTTT! Oh.. Poop.. You need more than one person for that... Oh well. I guess I'll just play what the heck I want, and Iain can't do anything about it, cos he ain't bloody well here. :o) Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Jason is joined by occasional co-host "Lefty" Lucy, and her baby daughter Nuala. *Spoiler Alert* - Waiting for a baby to speak doesn't make great radio.. Lesson learned.. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
Hey Hey Hey! It's some monkeys! Run! No, seriously! They're really angry, and they're ripping up the furniture! Oh well, it's too late to do anything about it now. We might as well settle down into the Funk & Soul couch, and summon up a show for you. Will it work? Let's Radio And See!
RIGHT TURN CLYDE - Eager viewers will know that we featured a studio set by Right Turn Clyde about 4 months ago on this very show. Shortly after that, they played at one of our Planet Beet Private Parties, also at Old School Studios, and I've been saving this set up for a special occasion. Well, today is that day, so break out the party streamers and orange squash, and let Right Turn Clyde into your hearts for a second time. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
Well, last week's special "Tweet Cast" show didn't really fire up a sea of interaction like Iain thought it would; so, I had to kill him. This week's show will be just me, The Jayman, and I will then attempt to grow a brand new Iain, which will probably take a few weeks. So, bear with me as I sail these rocky waters alone. I may be cold and lonely, but I'm doing it all for you people! So be grateful, even if my offerings are slight. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Jason flies solo, and by the seat of his pants, and in the face of fear, and headfirst into a bowl of disaster soup, and on the windshield, and other stuff just as funny than that; if not moreso.. Basically, what I'm saying is, Iain's away in Norway, so Jason will be all on his lonesome this week.
JUKE & THE ALL DRUNK ORCHESTRA - Today's show is the second of three parts that were recorded at my recent Birthday Party, which took place, of course, at Old School Studios, in Norwich, in the U of the K. Today's set being the amazing Juke & His All Drunk Orchestra. Their drunkenness helped them fit in with me and my friends, so it's all credit to them for ascimilating with their surroundings in such a convincing way. Thanks to everyone that came to the party and helped me have a great time until 7am!
Today's show was the first of our special Tweet-Cast episodes. Whilst we were recording the show, Iain was twittering about our every move. To be honest, we need to hone the concept a bit more.. And now I really think about it, it just doesn't make any sense, as the people reading the tweets can't actually hear the show at the time, cos it isn't broadcast live.. And then when the show IS broadcast, the listeners can't interact by tweeting at us.. Hmmm, (bird)food for thought.. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, it's not Jason's birthday, and as you can imagine, he's not too happy about that fact. Things were much more fun when it was his birthday, and he's gonna bring you all down with him. Oh boy.. Hang on to ya seats!
MADAMES ET MONSIEUR - Today's show is the first of three parts that were recorded at my recent Birthday Party, which took place, of course, at Old School Studios, in Norwich, in the U of the K. Some of you will know that I play drums in Madames Et Monsieur, but don't let that put you off! Thanks to everyone that came to the party and helped me have a great time until 7am!
This week, it's Birthday Week for our hero Mr Jason. He would've liked more presents, more attention, and a Ukrainian wife, but not all his dreams came true. Still, at least this week's show turned out niiiiiiiice. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
PORT ISLA - We were in a little bit of a rush to record this session, as Port Isla then hat to hot foot it down to The Birdcage in Norwich, to play a storming set there. Did that affect the quality of today's session? Of course it didn't! These boys work well under pressure, and the session turned out bloody brilliant! Don't believe me? Listen in and see. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
Today is Jason's birthday. The preparations for Jason's birthday party are all coming to fruition, and the boys couldn't be more (or less) excited! Listen in on all their magnificent plans, and gasp in awe at what a great friend Iain is, as he plans the adventure of a lifetime for his "best friend" (that's what it says in his contract!), The Jayman. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, our unlikely heroes rescue a record amount of kittens from the branches of the many trees around the vacinity of Old School Studios, only to be rewarded by a record amount of scratches all over their arms and faces. Why do we bother! We do not know.. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
Hey Hey Hey! It's the old team, back together again, for a sort of Disco Special! This week, Jason and the good doctor whip up a stew of epic proportions. Mainly of the funk & soul variety, but also with some afrobeat, and other tasty morsels thrown in, for her pleasure.. Intrigued? Let's Radio And See!
PHILLIP HENRY - Part 2 - This week's set comes to you live from The Bicycle Shop in Norwich, which you must by now know is our favourite local venue, and it's fast becoming a favourite tour stop for many great acoustic singer songwriters and bands alike. We're hoping to eventually bring you a dedicated weekly "Live @ The Bicycle Shop" type show here on Breakthru Radio, but for now, we'll call this "Live @ Old School Studios - On Location, Location, Location", haha! Phillip Henry played two blinding sets, and this is the 2nd of those, so please do check out last week's show if you enjoy what you hear today. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week we lack the special guests that made last week's show a stone cold classic of epic proportions.. With that in mind, let us plough through this field of sludge for the two hundred and forty fifth time, and see if we can brighten up your day just a little bit. Stay strong little one, we love you! Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Jason and Iain hold their annual "UK College Sandwich Competition". Send your entries (on Gluten-Free bread) to Jason's house, around lunchtime, and the winners will be announced at some point in the future. Seriously, can you hurry up, as I'm bloody starving! Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!

Phillip Henry played two blinding sets, and we'll feature the 2nd set on next week's show, so please do listen out for that. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week we have various special guests, including Iain's charismatic bongo instructor "Bigtime Bongo Man", the rock duo "Schwervon!", and a cameo performance at the end of the show from Simon Le Bongo! How do we do it? Well, to be honest, I don't know that we do.. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Iain continues to try to embarrass Jason into giving him the secret code to his new/old time machine, "The Time Fridge 2000"!! But if Iain thinks he's giving up the code that easily, then he's very, very, very mistaken. So there Iain! Take that! Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
Hey Hey Hey! It's the old team, back together again! This week, Jason and the good doctor whip up a stew of epic proportions. Mainly of the funk & soul variety, but also with some afrobeat, and other tasty morsels thrown in, for her pleasure.. Intrigued? Let's Radio And See!
DAVID CELIA (part 2) - David and his awesome band were due to come into Old School Studios on the afternoon of the Norwich leg of their UK tour, but they ended up doing a BBC radio session, and didn't then have enough time for our one. Soooo, we brough the mountain to Mohammed. Well, not a mountain, but a bunch of recording equipment.. To the Bicycle Shop, which is a cafe/bar and music venue.. It was worth the effort, and the gig was fantastic! This is Part 2 of the gig. Part 1 was featured 2 months ago. I have no idea why it took me so long to air the 2nd part.. Sorry about that listeners.. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
True to form, our diamonique duo have created a marvelous, and totally original, theme song for the "Schwervon On The Road" feature, which we'll be featuring for the next month or so. I bet you can't wait can you! Oh, you're already listening to the show, so it turns out you didn't wait.. Nevermind! Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Iain reads stories that Jason wrote at school when he was about 10 years old. It sounds more exciting than it actually is. Trust me on this one. Save yourself the time, and go and pluck your beard or something equally as entertaining. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
JUKE JONAH & THE ALL DRUNK ORCHESTRA - I first encountered this motley crew about 3 1/2 years ago, when Old School Studios was based in the wilds of Norfolk, out in the countryside. They hadn't been going for very long, and did a session for me, which I really enjoyed, and which the band enjoyed so much that they recorded their first record with me shortly after. Fast Forward 3 1/2 years, and they're now a finely-tuned and well-oiled (in more ways than one..) machine, of the highest order. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week's fantabulous show-of-kings features our gallant hosts doing marvelous & original interpretations of four James Eliot Taylor songs. Seriously dude, what other show would you get that kind of "entertainment" on? Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Iain and The Jayman slay you all with their incredibly insightful wit, and "50s movie hero" good looks. They won't be playing any music on the show this week. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
Hey Hey Hey! It's the old team, back together again, erm, apart from Dr Patel is busy curing diseases! This week, Jason has a whole load of great funk, soul, afrobeat, and slightly latin grooves to play you. So dust off your lino, and put on your bodypoppin' slippers! Can you kick it? Let's Radio And See!
WE CAN'T DANCE - We're so pleased to have got We Can't Dance to play at one of our private parties at Old School Studios! This is a storming, powerful set of songs, from a band that have no right to be so good at such a young age. They sort of remind me of a female-fronted early-Ash. Great songs. This is what they sound like live, so make sure you go and see them play if you get the chance. Oh, by the way, the 1st song was the soundcheck, so I was in the control room getting everything working, hence lack of bass guitar for half the 1st song. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
WOW! Today's show really flew by! We've just finished, and we're on top of the world. Maybe that's because we had an awesome Sunday Roast just before the show.. A recipe for success? You be the judge! Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Iain and The Jayman dedicate the show to Adam "MCA" Yauch from The Beastie Boys, who passed away on the day that this show was recorded. So, there's a lot less talking than usual, but more music. It could go one of two ways. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
EFFORT - I've been wanting to book Effort for quite a while, and it finally happened. They agreed to travel down from London to play at one of my Planet Beet Private Parties, along with We Can't Dance (on next week's show!) and Madames Et Monsieur. Actually, I think I'll change the name to Old School Party, cos it makes more sense.. Yeah, almost definitely. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week's show features slightly more special guests than you can shake a moderate sized stick at. Bigtime Bongo Man, Sue Ritz, Red Laurie & Yellow Laurie from The Winter Visitors, and Madames Et Monsieur get cajoled into performing an exclusive acoustic version of their hit song "Feel". Best show of the year?? You be the judge.. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Iain and The Jayman scale the very heights of entertainment, to see if there's anything up there worth stealing. Turns out they were already at the top of their game, and just didn't realize it. Oh well, same old same old then.. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
If you've been involved with the Norwich music scene at any point in the last 30 years, you'll probably have heard of Shane Olinski (nee O'Connor).
This week's show features mainly music that Iain likes. He's promised that Jason will get to play more of his kind of stuff on next week's show. For Jason's sake, I hope they remember.. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Iain & Jason employ the services of their stunt doubles, in an attempt to save vital energy, so that they can pass the savings onto YOU, the customer. Come on, whadd'ya say?... Let's radio!
CINECLUB - Some of you may already be familiar with Cineclub, as we've been playing their music for many years. Both under the Cineclub name, and in the guise of Swallows In A Heatwave. And you may also be familiar with their drummer, Keith Brown, as we've played his solo stuff, and also a few LPs worth of tunes by his band My Visor. So, with that in mind, let's now settle down with your old buddies, Cineclub. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week's show features our new Classic Album (does that make sense?) "Labour Of Lust" by Nick Lowe, from 1979, and Album Of The Month is still The Winter Visitors. No adventure this week, as the boys are plumb tuckered. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
This week, Iain's a bit distracted, as he has to go and play a wedding gig with his 80s cover band, and Jason just wants to help. That's all he ever wants. Seriously! Come on, whatd'ya say?... Let's radio!
CATE FERRIS - Part Two - So I was walking down to The Bicycle Shop in Norwich, which is a really nice cafe, restaraunt, bar, acoustic venue type place, cos I was gonna be recording the gig there that evening, and I needed to chat to the promoter, Ian. Anyway, just in front of me this girl walked in, and she looked familiar. I said "are you Cate?", and she said "Yeah!". I'd recognised her from the gig poster. OK, not a GREAT story, but the thing is, we got on really well, and hopefully that made her feel slightly more at-ease than she would've done otherwise, what with it being her first ever trip to Norwich. I'm sure her next Norwich gig will be absolutely packed. I know I'll definitely be there! Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week's show features our Classic Album by Kelley Stoltz, but there'sa new Album Of The Month in the shape of the long-awaited effort by Laurie Bennett's "The Winter Visitors". Also, our heroes Iain and Jason head off on another semi-surreal adventure. Introducing Iain's PA and Financial Advisor, Sue Ritz! Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
"How do we do it?" I hear you ask. "And more importantly, WHY?" I also hear, but wish I didn't. Well, what's in our souls needs to come out, or we'd burst. Come on, whatd'ya say?... Let's radio!

This week's show features our Classic Album by Kelley Stoltz, the current Album Of The Month by Frankie Rose, stuff from the debut Hello Bear LP, and of course sparkling and semi-amusing chat from our heroes, Jayman and Lorwey. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
Thanks the baby Jeebus, Lorway is back from Norway, and here he is, walking through the Doorway! Not the whole of today's show is gonna rhyme, or neccesarily be funny, but we'll certainly give it our best show. Time to get back into the swing. Of things. Can we kick it? Let's Radio and see!
This week, it's the "Foreigners Special". Everyone's a "foreigner" to someone, and we have lots of fantastic music from loads of different countries, including some "pre-revolutionary Iranian Pop", which I doubt many of our competitors/enemies can boast. The show is (self) sponsored again by 'Kershaws Quality Foods'... We can't get enough of their stuff, and that's the truth!
DEADBEATS - Well, you may unknowingly be familiar with the playing and singing of Deadbeats, due to their previous bands. Dan and Joe used to be in The Great Shakes, and Stuey was in The Loyal Few, both of whom have done Live @ Old School Studios sessions. Did you guess that? Two points for "yes", and one point for "no". Hmmm, I'm not really sure why you get a point for getting it wrong, but I don't make the rules.. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week's show features an exclusive live gig recording of Milly Hirst @ The Bicycle Shop in Norwich, UK. Also, the Classic Album is still Kelly Stoltz' "Antique Glow", and the Album Of The Month is Frankie Rose's "Interstellar". If I were you, these clothes would look very baggy on me..
HELLO BEAR - It's a long-awaited return visit from everybody's favorite poppy popsters Hello Bear. They did an OSS session when they first started, about two years back, and they also then played at a Planet Beet Private Party. Also, the other Friday, it was Norwich Fashion Week, and I ended up doing sound for them at a free gig they played outside Elements, a clothes shop in Norwich. That was lots of fun! Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week's show is packed full of all the good stuff. Competitions, secrets that we can't afford to get out into the open, blackmail (it's inevitable..), energy drinks that are 10x stronger than Redbull, and lots of other natural goodness for y'everybody! Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
So, it's a bitter sweet show today, AGAIN, but this time it's because Iain & Jason are gradually getting addicted to the Thai energy drink "M150", and it's really beginning to affect them. FUN! Come on, whatd'ya say?... Let's radio!
Can We Radio It? Let Us Kick It & See!
DAVID CELIA - Well, after one week back at the studio, we're out on location, location, location again, like the little scamps that we are. David and his awesome band were due to come into Old School Studios on the afternoon of the Norwich leg of their UK tour, but they ended up doing a BBC radio session, and didn't then have enough time for our one. Soooo, we brough the mountain to Mohammed. Well, not a mountain, but a bunch of recording equipment.. To the Bicycle Shop, which is a cafe/bar and music venue.. It was worth the effort, and the gig was fantastic! We have part one on today's show, and may have part two on next week's show, depending on "stuff". Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
Well, it's exactly a month after Valentines Day, and the Dream Team are back together again! That's right, it's Iain and Jason, back in each other's arms, and they couldn't be happier (let's say that, for the purposes of this intro..). Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
So, it's a bitter sweet show today, again, but this time it's because it's the return of Ian "Iron On" Lowery to the co-helm. Don't call it a comeback! Oh, no, actually, yeah, it's a comeback. Let's see what these old fools have to say. Come on, whatd'ya say?... Let's radio!
RIGHT TURN CLYDE - Well, this session has been a very long time coming. We tried to schedule it about 6 months ago, and then again 3 months ago, and FINALLY, we're in the same place at the same time, so you'd better bloody appreciate it!!
So, it's a bitter sweet show today, as it's the last with Nan Turner; at least for a while, as she's moving house, to the middle of nowhere. I don't even know if they get the Innernet where she's going... So, all you can really do is soak up the goodness that we'll be exuding on today's show. Trust me on this, it's a goodie.. Come on, whatd'ya say?... Let's radio!
THOMAS PAYNE & TWITCHERS - Today we have two sets for you, both on location, and at opposite sides of the Atlantic. First we have Thomas Payne, recorded at The Bicycle Shop, Norwich, UK, and then we have Twitchers, recorded at Cakeshop, in New York.
Well, the coundown to Exmass has begun, and that's what this week's show is aaaaallllll about. Let's see how long Nan and the Jayman can go without saying "Santa rocks!". Not long, I assure you.. Come on, whatd'ya say?... Let's radio!
This week, Jason and Nan have a brand new Classic Album, in the form of "I'm Scared" by Jacobs Mouse; an absolute classic, but one of the best live bands, ever! 2! Oh, and there's also some other stuff, but you'll find that out.. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
Well, we're a week late, but for some reason we mention Valentines Day more in this week's show than we did last week.. What are we like eh!?! This week's show see's Jason with a cold, and Nan with a surprising array of facial expressions. Come on, whatd'ya say?... Let's radio!
This week, Jason has a brand new co-host, in the form of Dr Patel. Can he kick it? Let us radio and see!
KAMILLA - Now, we've been trying to book Kamilla for a while for some recording, and so when someone cancelled on us at the last minute for an OSS session, we leapt at the chance to get Kamilla into the studio. Young, good looking, and talented. And that's just me!! Hehe, no seriously though, check out Kamilla, live at the studios they call old; school.. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, Jason and Nan read out a few letters from listeners with problems. Do they give good advice? Well, let's listen in and find out shall we? Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
It's the Valentines Day Special! And to celebrate, we won't be mentioning that fact for the whole show.. It's also the continuing saga of "Find Jason A Girlfriend/Wife", and Nan pulls many faces; none of which really transfer well to the format of "radio". Come on, whatd'ya say?... Let's radio!
PUBLICIST - This was a fun one! Recorded on location at Cakeshop in New York, I was hanging out there with my friend Jason (a different Jason, although I was there too..), and Jason (the other one) soundchecked this guy with drums, synths, vocoder and stuff, and it sounded pretty awesome, and he was the sweetest guy. But then when it came his turn to burn, he had a lazer pointer thing, pointed at his white tshirt. And a thick gold chain, circa 1983. And the crowd went wild, even if you can't tell from my terrible photos. It was pretty impossible to get got photos, partly cos I'm a terrible photographer; partly cos Cakeshop gave me free drinks, and partly cos it was pitch black in the venue, apart from the lazer pointer.. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, Jason and Nan try to find Jason a girlfriend/wife. Should be an exciting show! But, it isn't.. Oh well, we really tried our best. Seriously! Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
It's that time again! 7:23pm this time. Where does the time go! Well, if you really wanna know, it goes down a little drain behind the house. Seriously. You can't make this stuff up! "But Jason" I hear you ask; "why do you do this?". The answer my friend, is that I love you with all my heart. And some of my other bits too.. Come on, whatd'ya say?... Let's radio!
I'm back!! Did you miss me?? Lalalalalala *puts fingers in ears* I can't hear you! Well, I missed you a lot, and I care for you very much indeed. And that's why I have an absolutely packed full of jams show for you today. Let's Radio And See!
FERGUS & GERONIMO - I first saw this band play at the Northside Festival last year, and they were a lot of fun. I ended up getting to be friends with their singing drummer/guitarist Jason Kelly, and recorded a solo OSS session with him in June, which I hope you heard. Well, tonight ladies and gentlemen, you're now going to hear what the whole band sound like, live, in person, on the stage. I'm hoping to get them into the studio as soon as possible. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, Jason and Nan have a slight difference of opinion, in that Nan sees fit to read excerpts from Jason's secret diary. In the process revealing his feelings towards Iain.. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
It's that time again! 9:04am on a snowy morning (a different time to last week). Let us warm your hearts with some wicked heartburn, and some solid sounds from the students of today, yesterday, and the future. (*Not the future.. That's impossible. I don't know why I wrote that..) Come on, whatd'ya say?...
This week, Jason and Nan take a trip into the past, then back to present day, then one second into the future, and then back to normal again. They do this just before the show starts, so you miss all the fun unfortunately. Tough luck suckers! Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
It's that time again! A quarter past four! How did I know? Oh, I can't reveal my secrets to you I'm afraid. The Magic Triangle would NOT be happy at all. What's on today's show I hear you shouting? Well, let's radio and see.. Come on, whatd'ya say?... Let's radio!
This week, Mr Jason comes at you from the other side of the Atlantic. He's on his Summer Holiday, but will his relaxed condition (OK, he's hungover.. Happy now!?) make for excellent radio? Well, there's only one way to find out. Let us radio and see..
SWEARIN' - I was at The Gutter (not lying in it..) in Brooklyn, to see a friend's band called Parquet Courts. I had no idea who any of the other bands were going to be, and didn't recognise any of the band names. But, I hung around anyway. I ended up being blown away by the opening act, and was even more excited when they did a cover of a That Dog song. Soooo, I went up to them straight after their set, booked them for a session, and the rest is history! Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, Jason's partner in grime, Nan Turner, is back on the airwaves of steel, to bring you the best in Funk and Soul mu... Oh, hang on.. That's a different show.. Well, I'm sure they'll be some great music on this one, so just do your best to stick with us for the next hour.. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
It's that time again! Nan and the Jayman combine forces, and oh what forces they are! The force of nature, the, force of, erm, gravity, and thankfully, the force of brevity.. Come on, whatd'ya say?... Let's radio!
This week, Jason is joined by his ego, and numerous split personalities, none of whom get on with each other. Will this lead to an entertaining show, full of thrills, and mainly spills? Well, the likeyhood is, erm, no.. But still, you're not paying anything to listen to the show, so count yourself lucky! Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
It's that time again! Chat, gossip, music, wit. At least two of those things are definitely gonna happen in today's show. Also we'll be featuring a special live gig recording for ya. Come on, whatd'ya say?... Let's radio!
Is this a Christmas Special? Well, sort of.. There's definitely four Christmas based songs, and the rest are soul and/or funk gems. "But, is the between song banter world class Jason?" I hear you ask. Let's Radio And See!
THE NEVER EVERS - I met Jen and Bobby from The Never Evers on separate occasions, but sheer fluke, and it turned out that not only did they happen to be married, and amazingly warm and friendly people (who I'm now friends with), but they also happened to have a kick-ass band. And that's what we have for you today; a great session with The Never Evers. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let's Radio!
This week, Jason is joined by none other than music superstar Nan Turner, from Schwervon! You'll have heard Nan already, as she's done Live @ Old School Studios sessions with Schwervon, and also solo. The latter of which was recorded in Jason's flat, with an audience of handpicked friends, some of whom became Nan's backing dancers for that evening's gig! There's no dance routines on today's show, but don't let that put you off. Whadaya say? Let's Radio!
