RVBY MY DEAR is the musical project of the Brooklyn-based, Australian-born musician Gabbi Coenen. Her pop songs are often anthemic and dramatic, with an arty edge that borrows from indie rock more than the dancefloor. The band dropped by Serious Business Music in Brooklyn for this intimate session. Waiting by RVBY MY DEAR is available now. Watch our video for our previous video from RVBY MY DEAR, “Try” and listen to the audio podcast for more music and interview.
Gold Dime is the project of drummer/vocalist Andrya Ambro, who we first encountered as part of the amazing duo Talk Normal several years ago. These days, along with Ian Douglas-Moore and John Bohannon, Ambro drives the propulsive, disjointed post-punk grooves of this project with her impressively relentless and unique drum technique – all while delivering an impressively strong lead vocal. The trio visited us at Serious Business Music in Brooklyn earlier this year and now we present this second video from their session with us. My House is out now from Fire Talk Records. Watch our previous video for Gold Dime’s “My House” and listen to the audio podcast for more music and interview.
Jelly Kelly began life as a side project for Monogold frontman Keith Kelly, but quickly grew into its own beast. With a similar musical tendency (the presence of Monogold powerhouse drummer Jared Apuzzo – rototoms and all – probably helps with that) but a different angle that sees Kelly’s vocals opening up for a more full-throated delivery than that falsetto we’ve come to know and love over the years, Jelly Kelly is a young band full of experienced players (Nicolas Dube, Dom Bodo round out the quartet) having fun making weird sounds. The effect is an effortless, cool, catchy blend of post-punky hook-ridden indie rock that doesn’t want to fit neatly in any genre, and we’re here for it. The band dropped by Serious Business Music in Brooklyn to give us a taste of their brand new music. Fresh Paint by Jelly Kelly is available now. Listen to the audio podcast for more music and interview.
