Today: Monday, May 11, 2015 – The Daily Beat went down The Murphy Institute for a conference on “Violence and The City”. At the panel discussion on immigrants, violence and policing, Dr. Kavitha Ramsamy spoke about her paper which illustrated the “Dotbuster” attacks of the 1980s in Jersey City. These racial crimes against South Asians served as a leeway into a larger discussion of racialization and the inertia of marginalized communities to get protection under the law.
