It’s Earth Week! And here on Sew & Tell, we like to celebrate in style by supporting eco-fashion. Sustainability in fashion production and consumption have been hot topics on this show, and I’ve been lucky to speak with a ton of amazing, innovative guests in the world of green design. This week is no exception: Rachel Weisberg is a Miami-born Parsons grad, who recently launched her eponymous line of original garments, accessories, artwork, and home goods here in NYC. Even as a young label, Rachel is striving to keep her production process as “green” as possible. She works solely with organic and repurposed vintage fabrics, and creates bold, playful pops of color in her collections with natural dyes. Rachel treasures the ethic of hand-made above all else, and each of her one-of-a-kind pieces are hand-stitched, hand-dyed, and thoughtfully crafted with care and intention. On today’s show, she’ll talk about the repurposed handbags that started her sewing obsession; why, despite recent efforts, H&M still might not be a top-notch eco-fashion choice; and a few details that are inspiring her gorgeous S/S 2013 collection.

All that, plus a nature-inspired playlist, with tunes from Bon Iver, Iron & Wine, Stereolab, Moby, Savoir Adore and more. So turn up the show, and learn more about how you and Mother Earth can both look your best this summer!
