Have you ever found a too-good-to-be-true designer deal on eBay? Well, chances are, it might actually BE too good to be true: you could be spending all your hard-earned cash on a fake! On today’s Sew & Tell, I’m joined by fashion authentication expert Fei Deyle, whose personal passion for designer goods turned her Herve Leger blog into a sorely-needed online designer goods retail platform called Lollipuff. Unlike most other resale sites, Lollipuff offers 100% authentication of goods bought and sold, and, not surprisingly, it has grown rapidly since its launch just eight months ago. On today’s show, you’ll hear from Fei about how a personal blog led to a revolutionary retail website, her personal passion for designer goods (and, of course, Herve Leger!), and a few telltale signs that can alert a buyer to a fake.
Plus, a great playlist of new music including the latest from Superchunk, The Dismemberment Plan, DIANA, Julia Holter, and more! So turn it up and tune in for some *authentically* stylish radio, on BTR!

*Don’t miss the Lollipuff blog, full of great tips from Fei on styling, cleaning, and maintaining designer duds, as well as how to spot the real deal! And follow Lollipuff on Twitter and Facebook for updates on auctions, sales, designers, and Two Dollar Tuesdays!
In Anticipation of NYFW…
*Tommy Hilfiger joins a growing list of top designers who are foregoing the traditional runway presentation for alternative, more interactive collection debuts.
*Speaking of untraditional fashion week formats, Soho-based online fashion entertainment co VFiles will be presenting a showcase of three new & independent designers, along with a pop-up shop where attendees can browse the collections right then and there!
*A very cool new initiative called Relief on the Runway will present runway shows on Sept. 6 & 7, proceeds of which go towards the Islamic Circle of North America Women’s Shelter. Details on the participating designers, non-profit, and events here.
*Fashion GPS, the company behind a large number of iOS apps and programs for fashion week coordination, has released a more broadly applicable planning app called Events GPS. Wish I’d had that handy helper for my wedding!
*Marie Claire’s Creative Director Nina Garcia will be viewing, and documenting, fashion week through some unique lenses…
