RAR is a movie review and entertainment news podcast that is not afraid of spreading spoilers or rumors. We review new films as well as yesterdays soundtracks that still resonate with us. Tune in for what’s hot and what’s not on the silver screen.

The Playlist

RAR has tackled our first documentary! Doin’ It In The Park takes the audience into the world of New York City street basketball and pick up games. The stakes are high and the legends are still talked about to this day. Filmmakers Bobbito Garcia and Kevin Couliau, who have both spent some serious time on the court, spent 90 days film across 180 city courts and interviewed almost 60 streetball stars, though only 20 are featured in the film. In this movie you get to see the faces behind the purest form of basketball and what draws people back to the courts time and time again.

In short, we were amazed and thoroughly entertained:

This week we do not have a Rewound Soundtrack, but that is because we were fortunate enough to sit down with Bobbito and Kevin for an interview at their Friday premiere in Harlem.

You can catch the film at the 116th Street MIST Theatre thru June 6th. You can also download the film for your viewing pleasure, but we recommend you make it out to a viewing, or, if you are a basketball advocate you can sponsor your very own viewing. The shots in this film, both in film and on the court draw you into a state of mind that will have you dribbling in no time. Whether or not you are a basketball enthusiast, this is a documentary is worth checking out as it will take you into a world that only New York locals get to enjoy first hand — until now.
