A live jazz set from Aufsturz Klub in Berlin, Germany by GULF of Berlin on today’s episode of The Jazz Hole Live with Linus. GULF of Berlin’s Soundresearch Project focuses on improvised compositions and it consists of Gebhard Ullmann (tenor saxophone, bass clarinet), Gerhard Gschlössl (trombone, sousaphone), Johannes Fink (bass, cello), Jan Leipnitz (drums) and special guest Michael Haves (live electronics). All of the musicians come from different parts of Germany, bringing their various backgrounds and influences into this band. While their improvisations are free, all players think compositionally. Be sure to look out for their new album in 2020 and in the meantime check out their 2016 album simply titled GULF of Berlin, available in most online stores.
