I am super excited to present this week’s Discovery Artist…Beach Slang from Philadelphia, PA! I almost don’t even have to say which city they are from because EVERY band is from Philly these days. They are the kind of punk-affiliated rock n’ roll band that I dream of and they are a reality and I got to speak to them, at least one of them. Vocalist and guitarist James Alex spoke to me via Skype and he was as nice and gracious as you can be. They most recently released the EP Cheap Thrills On a Dead End Street following their May debut Who Would Ever Want Anything So Broken? The band is made up of former members of Weston, Ex-Friends, and Nona though they don’t want to be tied down to those names because Beach Slang stands on its own. Alex and I discussed their place as more “seasoned musicians” in an increasingly younger punk scene, his feelings towards the hype their first release got, and nerding out over guitar sounds. Do NOT sleep on this one!

And more importantly, don’t forget to check out our Discovery Artist feature on Beach Slang.
