This week on the show I’m featuring the second part of my San Francisco musical voyage, Future Twin! They are what they deem themselves to be, “punkadelic moongayz” and I’m gonna go with it. The band itself is largely an ethos, touching on ideas of sovereignty, autonomy, and having your own “space.” The members are all involved with activism in SF and the Bay Area; most notably involving a piece of unused land in Albany, CA that singer Jean Jeanie broke into and claimed as the people’s. I’ll be playing songs from both their recent “cassingle” entitled Chillality (also an ethos), which is a precursor to their next record Wavelength Sovereignty as well as their 2012 7″ Resist. I spoke with Jeanie about different causes she’s involved in, the “soul poverty” that a lot of SF residents are living in, as well as the interactive video art piece for their song “We’re Here.” Get active!
Don’t forget to hit up the Discovery Artist feature on Future Twin!
