This week on the show I’m featuring Hollis, Queens’ finest Lord Nez! He is a DJ Wayne Ski pick and in all honesty, I was really lucky to have had the chance to speak with this guy and play his music. He is a hip hop historian of sorts, as he hails from one of the mecca neighborhoods of hip hop that has served as the starting off points for Run-D.M.C., LL Cool J, Ja Rule, and Russell Simmons among a host of others. Nez came down to the studio and we had a real face-to-face conversation about where he comes from and how he passes down his knowledge to the youngsters of the culture. I’ll be playing music from his August mixtape Lord of the Underground Vol. 2 which is a precursor to his upcoming LP Messenger From Woodhull. Nez and I discussed how he likes to market his music and how that aspect has changed, his neighborhood’s history, and how he likes to keep active. Don’t sleep on this one, y’all!
Don’t forget to check out our Discovery Artist feature on Lord Nez.
