This week on Discovery Corner I’m featuring San Francisco/Austin-based psych/jam/visual group Sleepy Sun. They most recently released the LP Maui Tears on Dine Alone Records based in Canada. They were formerly a straight-up San Francisco band but the lead vocalist whom I spoke to, Bret Constantino, made the decision to move to the equally hip Austin. They formed at UC Santa Cruz though they weren’t quite the “college band” you’d expect, however they did rock a college party or two, bro! I’ll be playing songs from Maui Tears as well as an exclusive interview I had with Constantino. We discussed maintaining a long-distance band, the trials and tribulations of living in a “band house,” and why American audiences haven’t fully caught on yet. Hoot!
