This week on Discovery Corner on BTR I’m featuring the Oxnard, Calif.-based DJ Jo Def! His style is influenced heavily by juke as well as Chicago house and West Coast hip-hop. He’s a card-carrying member of the Soulection roster in Los Angeles, having just released his debut EP for them Steps on November 19th, 2013. I was able to catch him as he was fresh off a long day’s work as a children’s speech therapist, which he finds rewarding in its own right. We discussed public speaking, sampling Janet Jackson and crate-digging. Get down!
