Hello and welcome to Discovery Corner on BTR! This week we’ll be returning to New Mexico once more to touch upon the talented career and life of Nacha Mendez. Mendez has played around the world, with a variety of ensembles and genres that include garage rock, flamenco, dance club music, Latin music, and even avante-garde opera.
Mendez is constantly redefining each genre she touches, and does so with a sense of humility and honesty that permeates every song. It might take her a while to compose each one, but she does so with purpose and love. Carefully constructed rhythms and a penchant for diversity are at the epicenter of her sound, along with a willingness to collaborate–whether it be with family, friend, or stranger.
And don’t forget to check out the Discovery Artist feature on Nacha Mendez!
