Yay, you’re back! Welcome to BTR Today’s Discovery Corner podcast brought to you by, Levi’s.

It was quite the struggle getting into contact with Lias Saoudi, the lead singer of Fat White Family. The group had just released their most recent album “Songs For Our Mothers” back in January and were touring for that. Then Saoudi opened for Iggy Pop at this year’s SXSW with his other band The Moonlandingz–after rescheduling the interview several times, it almost felt like it just wasn’t meant to be.

However, when you’ve got a hold of such a unique guy, you can’t let him go that easily!

BTRtoday was finally able to get Saoudi on the phone for Levi’s Discovery Corner and we spoke to him about music making, touring, getting naked on stage, and all kinds of fun stuff!

Turns out “Songs For Our Mothers” is just that; songs for their mothers and mothers everywhere. Who doesn’t love mothers?! The album has a kind of dark feel to it, with bizarre lyrics that you oddly relate to and can’t really figure out why.

Some tracks get the party started, while others make you want to find yourself a nice dark corner to figure out the point of your existence.

They started their North American tour this month and will be in NYC May 2nd at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right, and May 3rd at Manhattan’s (le) Poisson Rouge.
Be there or be square.

And don’t forget to check out the Discovery Artist feature on Fat White Family!
