This past Monday the country celebrated one of the most iconic and important figures in American history. Martin Luther King Jr. Day asks us, as citizens of the 21st Century, to never forget the sacrifices many before us have made to shine a spotlight on the injustices of man and demand that all humans are, and will forever be, created and treated equally under the Constitution of the United States of America. In celebration of the indelible Martin Luther King Jr., we discuss and recommend five of the best books written in reference to the man, his message, and his legacy.

The books discussed in today’s episode are:

  • ‘Why We Can’t Wait’ by Martin Luther King Jr.
  • ‘My Life, My Love, My Legacy’ by Coretta Scott King
  • ‘Parting the Waters: America in the King Years, 1954–63’ by Taylor Branch
  • ‘Martin Luther King Jr.: A Life’ by Marshall Frady
  • ‘Bearing the Cross: Martin Luther King Jr. and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference’ by David J. Garrow
