MaryKate Maher is a sculptor from Brooklyn, New York. Her work addresses nature, not as a harmonious self-regulating state, but as a series of tenuous negotiations and truces liable to fall apart at any second.
National venues that have featured MaryKate’s work include AIR Gallery, Tiger Strikes Asteroid, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, BRIC Rotunda Gallery, Like the Spice Gallery, and Franconia Sculpture Park. Her work has also been presented internationally at Kunstwerk Carlshütte (Büdelsdorf,Germany) and Das Gift Gallery (Berlin). MaryKate has received numerous fellowships from the New York Foundation for the Arts (Sculpture), the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, and Socrates Sculpture Park.
MaryKate received her BFA from Arcadia University in 2001 and her MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 2004.
She also studied at the Glasgow School of Art, attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and was an artist in residence at the Vermont Studio Center.
