M. Kardinal lives and works as a freelance artist and photographer in Berlin. She works with photography, moving images and multimedia installation. Driven by a long experience with experimental photography and her preference for analog working methods, she started to work with obsolete video technique, circuit bent machines and toy cameras. Her practice lead to various collaborations with national and international musicians and sound artists developing audio-visual performances and moving images.
M. received her Master of Arts in Fine Arts from the University of Greifswald (DE) in 2012 and she was a Master Student under the guidance of Arno Fischer. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Art history in 2008 from the University of Greifswald (DE).
Since 2004, she has participated regularly in solo and group exhibitions across Europe, North America, and New Zealand. In September 2015 her work got honored by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. In October 2015 she received the Caspar-David-Friedrich scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture Germany.
Her works are in the permanent collection of SØR Rusche Oelde/Berlin.
Her film TSCHAIKA will be screened at Another Experiment by Woman (AXWFF) on April 18, 2018 at Anthology Film Archives in New York City.
