In a new exhibition at the RISD Museum of Art called America in View: Landscape Photography 1865 to Now, curator Jan Howard takes stock of the history of American landscape images. Included are a range of photographs — from  19th Century prints to images taken from Google Street view — that reveal how landscape photography provides a unique look at the historical, cultural and political narratives of the United States.
