There’s always bound to be a little bit of a holiday come down after all that Thanksgiving food, especially when we start to realize that Christmas and Hanukkah are so close at hand. Regardless, we have to press on with our eating adventures. Hanabi went out and tried Porkchop & Co. in the Ballard district in Seattle. He didn’t have the Porkchop, if you can believe that. He had some awesome grits though. I was in Carmel over the weekend, and I headed towards one of my all-time film favorites, Clint Eastwood’s former restaurant called The Hog’s Breath Inn to see if any of those old 1980’s vibes still remained. Also, I give you a simple, no-nonsense way to use up any Thanksgiving leftovers that you should really get rid of, and which will work for post Christmas leftovers brilliantly. A dense but fun episode for all.

Happy December!!!  Now that we’re firmly in that time between Thanksgiving and Christmas aka “shopping season” aka “all Christmas music all the time,” it’s important to have somewhere you can turn for a little non-Christmas music from time to time.  That’s what BTR is great for.  Sure, I may play a Christmas tune or two before the month is out, but for the most part, I’m still playing all the same great independent music that you hear all year round.  So take a break from your shopping and breathe some fresh musical air on the show today!

He also tells you the right way to make mashed potatoes (hint: you’re doing it wrong). Finally, Insane Dane provides you with a kickass, not-quite kosher stuffing recipe at Dish + Drink!

There’s a new artist borrn every day. And Breakthru radio, we here to break that new artist if he or she or group is dope! So check out the mix, with a ton of new artists & new music. Myself, sometimes it’s hard to go thru the barrage of new music because you don’t wanna just play anything because it’s new. Some latin hiphop artists can collaborate on one song and it can be ten minutes long. I think that’s a little too much but it’s part of the genre. Well, check out the new joints with the new artists and legends. The legends had to breakthru too. Let’s go!!

DAVID CRONIN – This week we have another lovely live set that the sexy Iain Lowery recorded at his bi-weekly O.S.T night at Norwich’s Cinema City. This one is a little different to his usual OST fare, in that instead of an acoustic based act, it’s all electronic. David can be seen busking, electronically, around Norwich City Centre apparently, although I’ve not seen him personally, so it’s possible that Iain is lying to me. Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let’s Radio!

Hanabi headed to D.C. and discovered that it has many edible gems. Some of the favorites were Volt in Fredrick MD, which was no joke! Also, Union Market is a magical food emporium, especially with vendors like Red Apron Butchery. You would have to be stupid to leave town without trying Toki Underground. You would be even more foolish if you didn’t stop by Ben’s Chili Bowl for a half smoke. Hanabi did all of those things.

BEN SMITH – This week’s show is brought to you live on tape from Brooklyn’s best venue, The Grand Victory! I was lucky enough to record a load of shows there last June, and I’ve gradually been bringing them to you bit by bit since then. This one’s a doozy, featuring frontman from The Brought Low, the amazing Ben Smith. If you’re wondering why the photos aren’t from the gig, it’s because I was busy doing the live sound mix, AND recording it separately to reel to reel tape, so I wasn’t able to leave the booth to go down the front. You’ll just have to use your imagination, or better still, why not go and see Ben playing a show? Hey, Whaddaya Say, Let’s Radio!
