If you missed these underground artists' releases, you're gonna be upset—so check them out here!
This is part 2 of 3 for my 2020 year in music recap. As always, this is an incomplete list of my favorites, and presented unranked, though along the way I may highlight some records that really stood out a little extra for me this year. We’re doing things alphabetically this time around, so this episode covers artist names from E to N.
Since the podcast began back in July, ‘When We See Each Other’ has featured lots of music of various genres, mainly made by artists who are queer/trans/GNC (and mostly BIPOC). As we near the end of 2020, Nikkiesha shares some of their favorite music from the show so far! This podcast is produced by Stereoactive Media.
Enjoy part 2 of the best tracks spun on New Vibrations this year while you're truckin' along this COVID-19 holiday season.
Who knows what 2021 has in store for us—but lets at least start it off with some good tunes.
Nick Zanca is the producer, composer, and musical mastermind behind the glitchy, heady, “nocturnal pop” songs of Mister Lies. Crafting his textural sonic world at home in his bedroom, Zanca has emerged with a twisted, driven sound that will have you totally enraptured. He brought his magic to the live room at Serious Business Music in Brooklyn to show us how he does it. Mister Lies by Mister Lies is available now. Check out the video for Mister Lies' "Speedboat" and listen to the audio podcast for more music and interview.
In this episode, we're taking a look at the musical performances from some of my favorite BTR Live Studio at Home episodes from the second half of 2020! Thanks to all the artists who joined us on the show this year, all the various hosts, engineers, and video production people who made it happen!
Come cry with us while we look back on some of our favorite live shows from the past few years. WE MISS IT SO MUCH.
New York band Alpenglow is Peter Coccoma, Graeme Daubert, and Elori Kramer - joined here by Daniel Ocanto and Nico Hedley. The band’s warm, sprawling sound has such a familiar and inviting feel to it that the songs seem familiar at first, then unravel new threads along the way. The band joined us at Serious Business Music to share some music from their new record. Oceans In Between is available now. Check out the video for Alpenglow's "Figure 8" and listen to the audio podcast for more music and interview.

This is part 1 of 3 for my 2020 year in music recap. As always, this is an incomplete list of my favorites, and presented unranked, though along the way I may highlight some records that really stood out a little extra for me this year. We're doing things alphabetically this time around, so this episode covers artist names from A to D.
A longtime BTR Live Studio favorite, Workman Song has been an ever-evolving project showcasing the songwriting of Sean McMahon, whose rich and bold-hearted folk music is as timeless as it is unconventional. This time around, McMahon performed solo for us at Serious Business Music in Brooklyn to give us a taste of some of his latest work. “Ragnarok” is the latest single out now from Workman Song. Check out the video for "I Want To Be With You" and listen to the audio podcast for more music and interview.

Check out the video for Realworld's "Get Busy" and listen to the audio podcast for more music and interview.

Last episode of 2020 and there is no shortage in amazing new music.
This weird year is wrapping up—finally. It feels strange to do a year’s end list. A lot happened this year, but also a lot didn’t happen. The music industry as we know it ground to halt in March, but we’ve adapted, and even if there aren’t any tours or sweaty club shows, people are still making music. And that’s a good thing. In this episode I’ll be recapping some of my favorite tracks from the artists who joined me on Live Studio from home. Thanks to everyone who joined me on the show to gripe about 2020  and shared their music with me.
Brooklyn-based duo True Dreams are a wickedly fun and raw tag team of “cheerleader punx” songwriters who go right for the throat with their snotty anthems. Don’t be fooled by the cuteness of their gimmicky onstage patty cake (it’s awesome tho) - they absolutely mean business and will FUCK YOU UP. They’re sloppy and fun and silly and totally serious and if you disagree, well, whatever. Angela Carlucci plays guitar and sings, and Hannah Nichols plays drums and sings, and we were so psyched to have them join us at Serious Business Music in Brooklyn for this super fun session. No. 1 is out now from King Pizza Records. Check out the video for True Dreams' "Fucked Up World" and listen to the audio podcast for more music and interview.
Counting down the best artists, albums, and songs of 2020. Tune in!

Stick around for a massive mix of music from the label's eclectic output after the interview.

The trio visited us at Serious Business Music in Brooklyn earlier this year and now we present this second video from their session with us. My House is out now from Fire Talk Records. Watch our previous video for Gold Dime's "My House" and listen to the audio podcast for more music and interview.

ing is an experimental rock band from Richmond, VA, comprised of Hannah, Will, and Garen. Employing the distinct–and sonically unusual for a band playing any sort of rock music–technique of playing only single notes and not chords, the band has a unique sound and feel, more akin to jazz or progressive, technical music than rock n’ roll, even though their structures tend to follow a somewhat traditional pop template. They visited us at Serious Business Music in Brooklyn earlier this year and now we present this second video from their session with us. self titled by ing is available now from Citrus City Records. One thing I learned about the music business: you don't have to be a superstar to go on tour and travel the world, you don't need to sell a billion records to make a living off your creativity. What you really need is courage, patience and some good talent. Up next on BTR Live Studio, this young man has been around the world visiting a ton of countries some people only dream about traveling to. Give it up for Mazzi & S.O.U.L. Purpose. Mazzi is a dancer, MC, and amazing writer who puts out a ton of music each year with most of the proceeds going to a charity of his choice. I had a chance to sit down and talk to the humble one. Shadow Monster is the Bushwick, Brooklyn-based duo of Gillian Visco and John Swanson who play a potent sort of grunge-inflected indie rock. Motherhood is the Fredericton, NB, Canada-based trio of Brydon Crain, Penelope Stevens, and Adam Sipkema. A (rightfully) self-proclaimed trio of “deep-thinkin’ rippers,” they share an impressively high level of musicality and intensity that comes thru on record and truly shines in a live environment. With a twisting, propulsive sort of artiness to their heavy, HEAVY rock, the band manages to produce a gnarly, twangy, fuzzy sort of new sound without ever feeling like too much. They dropped by Serious Business Music in Brooklyn to blow our minds for this session. Dear Bongo is available now from Forward Music Group. Listen to the audio podcast for more music and interview.
Marginalized groups are fighting for equality. It's painful. It's frustrating. But, today on Roadside Assistance we are celebrating the fact that progress is being made.

The music made by Brooklyn band Kissed By An Animal is a perfect sonic parallel to musical mastermind and illustrator Dima Drjuchin’s visual aesthetic - bright, colorful, bold, and often, totally tripped out. With everything from psychedelic riff-loving wailfests to 00’s-esque sweaty dance party vibes, the band rolls along through the many genres at their disposal to great effect. They brought the party to the live room at Serious Business Music in Brooklyn to give us a taste of their world. Kissed By An Animals’ self-titled debut is available now. Dave Monks - best known as the bandleader of Canadian indie rock band Tokyo Police Club - doesn’t waste any time. For the past several years, he’s used the downtime from TPC to work on his solo music with a focus on his voice and acoustic guitar, resulting in his first solo full length being released just ahead of a new record from his other band. Here, he presents a stripped-down taste of some of his newest tunes, accompanied by Alyson McNamara, at Serious Business Music in Brooklyn.
