All Our Exes Live in Texas is the collaboration of four of the best singer-songwriters from Sydney, Australia — Elana Stone, Katie Wighton, Hannah Crofts and Georgia Mooney. Their talents combine beautifully with four-part harmonies around mandolin, ukulele, accordion, and guitar and while their music certainly has some sweet subtleties, there’s nothing soft about the band’s vibe, which tends toward badasserie. We caught up with them on their recent trip to New York City for this intimate performance in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. When We Fall, the debut album from All Our Exes Live In Texas, is available now.
So many debuts in the mix today and DJ Emily’s playing two tracks from every artists. Elliott Brood, Lydia Loveless and Rock Paper Gary are just a little bit of what’s in store.

We have a music heavy episode this time, including new tracks from The New Restaurants, who are celebrating the release of a new website (‘cause that’s how they do), and Lomelda, who has a new album out. Domino Kirke has returned. Her music career began early when she was “discovered” at just 17 and over the years she’s taken several turns through various projects and genres that have ultimately led to her current endeavor and a new record. Her first release in 5 years — and first under her own name — it arrives with a heavy dose of inspiration from her friend and musical collaborator, Luke Temple. It’s worth noting that Domino comes from quite a unique family of talented folks: her father is the drummer from Free and Bad Company, her mother runs a SoHo boutique, and her sisters Jemima and Lola are both successful actresses. Domino stopped by Serious Business Music in DUMBO, Brooklyn, with guitarist Jen Turner to share this intimate take on some of her new music. Domino Kirke’s Beyond Waves is available now. Listen to the audio podcast for more music and interview.
Today’s show includes music from Butch Walker, Nathan Xander, and many more!
Native Harrow is Devin Tuel, accompanied by her musical partner and conspirator, composer/multi-instrumentalist Stephen Harms. We first encountered the duo in 2015, performing for our cameras in the quiet confines of a bar in Brooklyn. Since then, Native Harrow has changed quite considerably, releasing much more music, moving, and spending a significant amount of time on the road developing a strong live show and letting Devin’s songs stretch their legs and find their footing. This is all evident in their latest batch of music and this session, recorded live at Serious Business Music in DUMBO, Brooklyn during their summer 2017 tour. Sorores, the latest release from Native Harrow, is available now. Listen to the audio podcast for more music and interview.

Both StereoactiveNYC and BTR have a long history with Drew, so we’ve got a whole bunch of music that features his multiple talents and some stories to go with them. Also, we have some new music by former Ball Of Flame Shoot Fire members Pat Kelly and Jess Tambellini as well as new stuff by Shilpa Ray.

Roselit Bone is the 9-piece gang of cowboys spreading the dark visions of Joshua McCaslin, based out of Portland, Oregon. McCaslin’s style draws heavily on country, but the band’s vibe and subject matter veer hard from post-punk to rockabilly, pulling together a soundtrack for the end times that feels wholly appropriate these days. The band crammed into the live room at Serious Business Music in DUMBO, Brooklyn, to share their tales with us. Blister Steel is available now on Friendship Fever. Listen to the audio podcast for more music and interview.

Emilyn Brodsky plays the ukulele with so much fire that you have to wonder why she doesn’t make the move to electric guitar… well, because she’s chosen her weapon, and it’s that tiny stringed instrument that she bashes away at while singing and commanding the stage with a similar intensity. This is part folk, part punk, but not entirely either one in the traditional sense. We’re kind of fascinated by Emilyn (she’s very chatty and has a way of drawing you into her world quickly) and we think you will be too.
