Grace Strickland de Souza is a multi-talented performer who we first got to know via her work in the band Kin. Over the past year, her solo musical bedroom experiments grew into a fully-developed project, taking inspiration from film scores, vocal experimentations, and electro-pop to form her own unique voice and sonic language. Here, she takes us to her home in Sheffield, UK for an intimate performance. Better In Space EP is available now. Listen to the audio podcast for more music and interview.
On today’s episodes of BTR Live Studio at Home, London based electro pop artist GracieSouz, stops by to unveil the new solo project. The project began as a bedroom experiment during the London lockdown and boomed into so much more. The project has dark brooding cinematic tones. Grace is also associated with Indie Rock group Kin. Jen discusses with Grace the sound of the new project, her writing process, the making of the two new music videos for the singles Brian Cox and Before, An Apparition, and the influence of outer space on the project.
Sasha And The Valentines is an Austin, TX-based dream pop band with a brand new debut full length full of sweet and hazy pop gems. For their performance here, Sarah Addi (voice, keys, drum machine) is joined by JB Bergin on Violin in a perfect outdoor setting, and we have a great conversation with Sarah about the band's history and the new record! So You Think You Found Love is available now from Oof Records.
In the building we have special guest John Jigg$, hailing from Strong island, Long island, New York. John Jiggs is a very talented artist who had no just to be involve in music because his family was deep into music also. Displaying his skills in the local areas of Long Island, John felt like it was time to take his mic skills to the next stage, yeah time to go national and international. Despite the pandemic Jigg$ has not quarantine his hustle by staying home. He has been hitting the hip-hop circuit hard. Performing from New York, Atlanta to New Orleans while working on his new project which just dropped on all digital outlets. I sat down and talk with the brother. Let’s check it out.
