It’s Milk Week here on BTR & for fashion fans, that can only mean one label: Black Milk! On today’s show, I have an interview with Cameron Parker, Marketing & Operations Director for the hot young Australian-based label, who will talk about how he got involved with the company when designer James Lillis was still working out of his kitchen, his strategy to build the brand using social media in lieu of advertising, Black Milk’s impressive in-house production infrastructure, and a few of their most popular collections and collaborations. Plus, a subtly milk-themed playlist full of tracks from great indie releases of 2013, including Love Inks, Cold War Kids, Typhoon, Cheyenne Mize, and more. So tune in and do that body good with Sew & Tell on BreakThru Radio!

I have a very special interview for today’s NYFW Sew & Tell; it was my honor to talk earlier in the week with designer Eden Miller of Cabiria, whose appearance in today’s Fashion Law Institute runway show at Lincoln Center marks the *first* time a plus-size line has walked the runways of Fashion Week. (Can you believe that??) I had a great time talking with Eden about her bold, classic designs, inspired in part by mid-century European cinema from the likes of Fellini. On today’s show, you’ll hear from Eden about how her love for sewing was sparked at age eight in a nursing home, her 20+ years of costume design experience, how the idea of Cabiria’s beautifully crafted, modern styles came about, her encounter with a terrifying, one-of-a-kind fur muff, what it took for her to prepare this S/S 2014 collection, and more. Plus, amazing new music on the show today from Volcano Choir, Typhoon, Still Life Still, Deer Tick, and more. So pop that champagne, turn up the volume, and celebrate NYFW with BTR!
It’s the new moon. It’s also the first Thursday of September. 9/5/13. Lottie@btrtoday.com
Impending death was the inspiration for the new album by Typhoon, which has been filling up DJ Wynn’s ears of late. He’ll share the story of lead singer Kyle Morton, as well as new music from Dent May, Deer Tick, Dodos, and Califone.
Sunday’s With DJ Drew on BTR
Today is the Saturday of Awesome Old Bands Coming Out with New Material. I mean, we’re talking old bands. Bands you might have forgotten about even. Remember Franz Ferdinand? The band, not the archduke. Well, guess what? There’s a brand new song from them on the show today!! And they’re not all! We’ve got Appomattox, Deer Tick, and The Dodos! Very exciting. And as always, don’t forget to stop by Facebook and Twitter and follow BTR for all the latest happenings at the station.
