So we're not quite ready for the holidays just yet. We've still got a couple more weeks officially, but hey that's when you should be planning to throw a total rager. We asked Insane Dane to come up with some epic mixed drinks and with my discovery of the Soviet era cookbook, The Book of Tasty and Healthy Foods I'm now planning to host the Communist Party and I don't mean Lenin and Stalin, although they would approve. Na Zdorovie!

Monday's are fun days on BTR!
Sunday's with DJ Drew on BTR
Sometimes you’ve just got to get away, and DJ Hanabi and Insane Dane are no strangers to the call to wander. The holidays make a great time to take a holiday. Insane Dane will be reporting from Florida while visiting family. Hanabi will also be visiting family in Mexico. Of course outdoing both of them, Hanabi is taking his dad to Lichtenstein to visit the town where his grandparents came from. Also, Hanabi’s grandfather’s name is Franz Ferdinand, named after the band of course. Also Check out a great article from BTR concerning food safety and getting trans-fats the hell out, by Tanya Silverman.

The best of the best this week on BTR!
Aw yeah, it’s fall peeps! It’s time to get excited about roasting things again as well as fall vegetables, soups and of course pumpkin spiced EVERYTHING!!!! Also, Halloween doesn’t just have to be about stupid little kids running around in unimaginative costumes trying to assert their perceived rights to free candy. Instead, it can be about fun dinner parties and costumes for adults with the adjective “sexy” affixed to the label. Oh Yeah... We also have beer too!
Sunday's with DJ Drew on BTR
Muscle Shoals has birthed some of the biggest hits and this documentary follows suit.

The two then chat about "Things Not to Say to a Lesbian" for the Analyzing Stereotypes segment and finish off the show with a discussion on bad online dating classifieds as seen here on The Frisky and here on Jezebel. DJ Wynn comments an insight from Louis C.K. on smartphones and connects it to new music from Clark. He also shares new cuts from Mum, Zula, and Dr. Dog.
This week on the show I speak with Sarah Lasley about her film Eve. The film follows four characters: a celebrity, her confused and obsessed fan, a lonely housewife desperately trying to connect with the world, and her wandering husband who is drawn away from his wife by the beauty of nature. The film contrasts quick cuts with moments of unsettling stillness and Sarah's richly saturated sets reference her days as a figurative painter. Sarah's other films include She She, which Sarah describes as "Thelma and Louise without stakes", and Bitches, a take on the 1988 film Beaches.
Just like everyone in New York is a heavy set Italian guy who earns his living in the "sanitation" business, it's common knowledge that everyone in San Francisco is a vegetarian with vegan aspirations. So, we figured we would see what it's like to live like a vegetarian for a day. Please note that we're not convinced that cheeseburgers aren't actually vegetarian.

Welcome to the Saturday show!! There are a lot of new bands on the show today, like Running and Pond. Plus, we've got a split from Ariel Pink and Jorge Elbrecht, of which both songs I'm really proud. It's definitely a good mix to spend a summer Saturday afternoon. And make sure to check out BTR on Facebook and Twitter for all of the latest updates!

This week's Sew & Tell is a re-broadcast, perfect for BTR's "Best of Summer" theme! Today I have two fabulous guests whose line of sun-protective clothing will help get you and your wardrobe ready for all that summer sun in the months ahead! "But wait," you say, "don't all clothes protect you from the sun?" Well, yes and no. While your favorite organic cotton white tee might shield you from a burn, it doesn't keep out the rays that can cause longer-term damage and contribute to your risk of developing skin cancer. What's a beach-loving lady or lad to do? Anne Botica and Monique Moore developed just what the doctor ordered: Mott 50. This line of stylish garments are well-constructed, fashion-friendly basics, and each piece has an SPF of 50 or higher! Which means that you can relax and enjoy beach days, picnics, and summer music festivals with confidence. On today's show they'll share about how they developed the idea for Mott 50, what makes these clothes so sun-friendly, and a few important skin care statistics that everyone should know. Plus, some great music tracks from artists like Agnes Obel, Julian Lynch, of Montreal, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and more! It's fashion Friday here on BTR...

We're deep into May and warm weather, and we've got the great tunes on the show today to celebrate that. We're playing tracks from Prince Rama and Screaming Females, whom BTR is featuring this week on Live Studio and Get in the Van, respectively. Make sure to check those out, along with BTR on Facebook and Twitter. And stay tuned for new tracks from She & Him, The Child of Lov, and Har Mar Superstar!

Yeah, I totally used a buzz word to talk about food just now. I might even say paradigm at some point. Sue me! Anyway, we figured it's an interesting time in the world of food. Collectively we have so many options beyond the typical brick and mortar restaurant and grocery store experience. Even just 10 years ago, the idea of choosing to eat from a food truck, let alone many different food trucks just wasn't something you did. But, now look at us. The phrase “food truck pod” or, a gathering of delicious food trucks is a real thing. The increasing ability to get farm to table ingredients delivered to you by an online service is expanding, as is the availability of healthy, high quality ready-made and pre-portioned food delivery services. These truly are fast times we're living in.
March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb, but on BTR March comes in with the lead up to SXSW, and out exploring a bunch of new bands that we learned about from the festival! You heard it here first: Dump, Last Good Tooth, and Purling Hiss- we've got great new stuff on the show today. Plus, a two minute rant about music in Starbucks! There really is something for everyone. And of course, don't forget to follow BTR on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest updates!
Artist Joey Parlett is know for drawings that feature a bizarre cast of reoccurring characters and densely drawn battle scenes. Joey is also responsible for a series of comics about a character called Beardman, who, in his adventures, invents an infinite guitar, buys the Tower of Babel and pulls hundreds of thousands of cats into the sunset on his rascal scooter.
Holy smokes, there is a LOT going on today! First of all, it's Saturday of SXSW. Second, it's Hair Week on BTR and we're celebrating that with a hair-themed show today. There's a new Discovery Artist show that you'll have to stay tuned to hear about, AND we have new songs from Rachel Zeffira and Fol Chen. And as always, don't forget to follow BTR on Facebook and Twitter.
It's March, and that means SXSW is coming up, so that of course means that major, major releases are happening! There's so much great music on the show that i couldn't possibly list them all here, but there's new Golden Grrrls, Manatees, and Cave Singers. And don't forget to check out BTR on Facebook and Twitter.
Tuesday with DJ Emily!
Today on God Bless Weirdmerica we've got SO MANY cool things. First, the new stuff. We've got brand new very weird tunes from Petra Haden of The Decemberists and Fred Thomas of Saturday Looks Good To Me. Second, we've got classic tunes from Joanna Newsom and Old Time Relijun. And finally, we have weird wolf facts. You'll just have to stay tuned to figure out what that means. And don't forget to follow BTR on Facebook and Twitter!
