Happy Thanksgivukkah! I hope you're enjoying a great weekend full of celebrations, food, friends, and family. I have a really fun Sew & Tell for you today: in honor of BTR's Screen Week theme, I thought it would be fitting to take a look at some fashion from the silver screen. Now, fashion in film is a huge, broad topic, so I called in my good friend and fellow sartorially-minded cinephile Anthony Platipodis to help me break it down. Each of us chose a favorite vintage fashion film and a favorite contemporary example, and on today's show, we'll be discussing the style in four movies: "Top Hat," (1935), "Leave Her To Heaven" (1945), "Great Expectations," (1998), and "The Fifth Element" (1997). Plus, I've got some great new music in the mix - fresh tracks from the new solo debut by The Babies frontman Kevin Morby, and Cali garage group Pure Bliss, as well as a track off one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the year to date, Blood Orange's sophomore release "Cupid Deluxe." All that, plus a ton more goodies (some fashion film recommendations from fellow Sew & Tell listeners, a great Thanksgiving leftovers recipe, more gorgeous gift ideas!), so whether you're fighting the Black Friday crowds or curled up at home, tune in and join us for a stylishly entertaining hour here on BreakThru Radio!
It's Community Week at BTR! On today's show, we're bringing you the interviews behind two headlines you can find on the BreakThru Radio site today. Up first, Dr. Deborah Peel is a psychoanalyst and founder of Patients Privacy Rights who helps us better understand the new ways that Google is infringing on the rights of its users. And later, Tanya Silverman talks more about urban development with John J. George of the Detroit Blight Busters, a charitable group helping the Motor City fight decay.
Tuesday is ready to go on BTR!

It's Optimism Week here on BTR, and just in time, because spring has sprung! That means not only great weather, but a whole bunch of great music for us to listen to! We've got new tracks from Mudhoney, Charles Bradley, and Telekinesis, plus a whole lot more! Don't forget to follow BTR on Facebook and Twitter.
What could be better than a vintage boutique that stays open until 2 am? Browsing that boutique with a cocktail in hand! And thanks to The Dressing Room on NYC's Lower East Side, you can do just that! On today's show, I'm joined by co-founder and retail curator Alex Adame, who maintains a tastefully eclectic mix of vintage pieces and new designs from local and independent labels. On the show, Alex will talk about turning their inventive vision into reality, how The Dressing Room has changed as its grown, some of the independent designers they carry, a few of her own vintage wardrobe treasures, and more. Later, Dane & I will talk cocktail shop, and there's a playlist full of new music from artists like Bettie Serveert, Sanders Bohlke, Little Green Cars, and more. Give your Friday a makeover with vintage style on Sew & Tell!
