Merry Christmas Eve! I love Christmas Eve because it’s the quietest, most contemplative holiday of the year, at least as far as I’m concerned. So for today, I’ve put together a very quiet, contemplative mix. I hope these tracks get you in the mood, and prepare you for the day ahead tomorrow filled with presents and food and excitement! So cozy up and enjoy these weird soothing songs.
It’s the first of two God Bless Weirdmericas for December 2014, and we have a great wintry mix for you today! It’s snowy and moody (Kate Bush’s Misty from 50 Words For Snow), but we also have some earnest rock to lead us into that Christmastime feeling of hopefulness (Neutral Milk Hotel). Check out all the weirdness on the show today, and when you’re done, check out BTR on Facebook to stay up to date on all the goings-on around the station!!
Today on God Bless Weirdmerica we start the show off with an incredibly beautiful song by Julian Lynch, and we keep that calm going throughout. We also explore some of the genre’s very best “Bears” with both Grizzly Bear and Panda Bear packing a 1-2 punch at the end of the show. Hey- it’s summer. We get to celebrate. And as always, don’t forget to follow BTR on Facebook and Twitter!
Well, I've actually been thinking a lot about it lately. I think that... I LOVE TO ROCK!

Sunday's with DJ Drew on BTR
It had been 44 years since psych folk artist Linda Perhacs released an album. But the inspiration she drew from nature and the cult following devoted to her first LP, awakened her inclination for songwriting. Released on March 4th by Asthmatic Kitty Records, The Soul Of All Natural Things, revisits Perhacs’ 70s era new age tendencies and couples them with modern production. The album is an exploration of beautiful tones, the elements of the universe, and 70-year-old Perhacs’ spiritual worldview.
Very, very excited to have DEATH on the show for the first time ever today! They're a black Detroit punk band from the 70s, who were shaping the Detroit sound with the MC5 before Iggy and the Stooges. So it's a real honor to play their music on the show today. And as always, make sure to follow BTR on Facebook, Twitter, tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram, and SoundCloud.
We explore a wide range of feelings and emotions on this week's show... Hope you brought your handkie!
BADBADNOTGOOD. Linda Perhacs. St. Vincent. Os Ovni. Jerry Paper. Damaged Bug. Saint Pepsi. Zorch. Fela Kuti. California X. Mister Lies. And more...
Phil / DJ Wynn is back in the Den for a conversation about the Oscars, Ava Luna and more (with special guests James and Chuck)
Today on the show we're playing two tracks from the resurrected folk hero Linda Perhacs. It doesn't get more New Weird America than Linda. In 1970 she recorded a folk album that was lost to time, until New Weird America folks resurrected it decades later as a forgotten masterpiece. And now she has a brand new album out for us to share! All that and more on today's show, plus don't forget to follow BTR on Facebook, Twitter, tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest, and SoundCloud.
Enjoy your 90-minute Tuesday set this Tuesday on BTR!
A story about the lady who lives underneath my floorboards, and new music from Ava Luna, Real Estate, Wild Beasts, and Linda Perhacs.

Plus, don't forget to check out BTR on Facebook, Twitter, tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram, and SoundCloud!
This week on Sew & Tell, I am honored to feature a conversation with Adrienne Jones, Professor of Fashion Design at Pratt Institute and designer in her own right, who organized the current Pratt exhibit “Black Dress.” The exhibit shines a spotlight on the work from ten contemporary black designers, at a time when that population is sorely underrepresented in the world of fashion. Join us as Adrienne shares about her own career path in design and fashion education, how her godmother inspired “Black Dress,” the evolution of the exhibit and its featured designers, and more. Plus, a playlist chock-full of new music, including the latest from TEEN, Real Estate, Ages & Ages, and more! So tune in & turn it up - it’s time for fashion on BTR!
The Rock Show is back and better than ever, baby!!
