This week on the ol' Discovery Corner I feature the New York City-based jazz pianist Helen Sung. I caught her as she had just returned from a trip to India at the Jus' Jazz Festival and preparing for a trip to Osaka, Japan a few days after. The last record she released was Re-Conception in 2011 but she is currently in the mindset of promoting her upcoming record, Anthem For a New Day. I was able to score two songs from it for the show! We discussed the global reach of jazz, her own cathartic experiences at a Harry Connick Jr. concert and where modern jazz is headed. Get jazzed!
