It’s a moody, long, windy path on God Bless Weirdmerica today. We’ve got our long loquacious lyricists with Destroyer and newcomer Kiran Leonard, we’ve got our classical gorgeous soundscapes with Mikael Lind and Agnes Obel. And we’ve even got electronic that I think is just weird enough to go on the show. And it’s all definitely moody. A real teenager of a show, if you will. And don’t forget to download the brand new BTR app for your phone!
September! The transition from summer to fall, my two favorite seasons and, thus, the best time of the year. We're mirroring that mood on the show today. We're starting off with three standout new tracks, and then taking the rest of the show to be a little more mellow-- inspired by fall and the brand new Volcano Choir album, which really couldn't be better. And don't forget to follow BTR on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest updates!
We have a delightfully weird Weirdmerica for you today!! We've got weird music from Bell Orchestre, Dan Deacon, and Dirty Projectors. Not to mention Deerhoof and Animal Collective! It's great living in a country with so much weird music! And make sure to tune in to all the other great programming we have for you on BTR today!
This broadcast of the Northwest Show features music from Shabazz Palaces, THEESatisfaction, Blue Scholars, Helio Sequence, Blitzen Trapper, and many more!
What's your fashion fantasy? For the style editors of New York Magazine, that answer is found in Greenpoint-based designer Caycee Black, whose glamorous-but-edgy cocktail dresses they recently deemed utopian. With a background in dance and fine art, Caycee blends the influences of ballet and film into each season's collection, resulting in patterns and garments that strike a perfect balance between bold and dreamy, dark and light, tough and feminine. On today's show, Caycee talks about how she mixes the perfect cocktail of paint, dance, and fashion, what sci-fi films influenced her current F/W collection, and her fantasy picks for celebrities to dress (you will want to stay tuned for this!) Plus, fantastical tracks from some of Caycee's musical clients including Asobi Seksu and Pains of Being Pure At Heart, along with new music from Sharon Van Etten and Blackout Beach. So turn up the volume, and get ready to daydream…
