DJRePete takes a look / listen back at the 20-teens today canvasing tracks that brokethru the BTRtoday airwaves over the last decade!
Crisp air, football, beer, good food and good friends... that's what tailgating is all about. However, it isn't complete without good music to go along with it. Some of your favorite DJs have made sure you've got that part covered with this mix.
We’re all SXSW, all the time to start your Listen mix on BTRtoday. DJRePete is spinning artists exclusively playing the festival in Austin including alt rock with Beach Slang and Ex Hex, electro beats from Chairlift and CHVRCHES, and some funk with Charles Bradley and Har Mar Superstar. Plus, tune in for news on why Eleanor Friedberger loves and leaves Brooklyn. And hear why Death By Unga Bunga is playing the most delicious sounding venue in all of Austin this week. Plan your route or live vicariously with this SXSW mix on BTRtoday!
Rain, rain, don’t go away! This week’s Sew & Tell guest will have you hoping for the next drizzly day: Yurika Nakazono and Marie Saeki are co-founders of TERRA NEW YORK, a the first fashion label dedicated exclusively to creating stylish, cutting-edge rain wear. The TERRA NEW YORK designs are sleek, sophisticated garments and accessories, built for endurance but created with incredible elegance. On today’s show, Yurika joins me to talk about the start of the label, the unique biodegradable plastics used for TERRA NEW YORK pieces, the practical and aesthetic considerations behind each design, some exciting new projects on the horizon for the line, and more. Plus, I’ve put together a mix that reflects the rain, indie-rock-style; you’ll hear from legendary Tex-Mex-folk band Calexico, Swedish experimental electro-pop songstress Jenny Wilson, and Brit noise pop group Evans The Death. All that and more this hour, so put away that sad, drippy umbrella, pull up a chair, and learn how to stay stylishly dry like a pro with Sew & Tell on BTR!
On today’s show, I got to chat with a dear friend and fantastically fashionable production designer, Virginia Hastings. Virginia has worked in production design here in New York for over seven years, leading and contributing to design teams on feature films, shorts, commercials, and corporate events like the Tonys, MTV Video Music Awards, and even this year’s Superbowl! On today’s show, Virginia talks about the role of production design within film, some of the creative challenges she’s faced on the job, the skills and strengths required to work as part of a film team, and how to prepare to be stylishly unprepared. And I’ve got a nature-themed playlist featuring tracks off the latest from Nebraska legend Simon Joyner and Georgia native Matthew Houck (aka Phosphorescent), along with songs from Canada’s Gold & Youth, German trio Aloa Input, and Brooklyn’s own indie sensation Cults. So get ready to look your best even when you’re unprepared, with Sew & Tell on BTR!
This week, The Hash takes a look at New Year's resolutions and reflections, and shares some of 2014's bloopers.
