This week, we take a look at the brand new Brooklyn-based label, Chaikan Records. Founded by Brian Chase (drummer from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Man Forever, Beach Creeps, etc), the label’s initial releases – Drums & Drones (Brian Chase) and untitled: after (Catherine Sikora + Brian Chase) – explore the jazz, avant garde, and experimental world of his musical background. Brian stopped by to chat a bit about the beginnings of the label (and all the challenges that come along with it), what’s coming up, and to check out some music. The second half of the show features music a bit a bit further from the pop realm than frequent listeners might expect here on the show, so check it out, dig in, and enjoy!
