This week, we have the second installment of our segment with contributors Matt Ruby and Charles Gould in which they read passages from the Torah and connect the text to things going on in both the world today and in their own lives. Among the topics covered in this edition are Noah building his ark, the differences between Israeli and American Jews, effective parenting, successful men and their need for praise, and why God is praised. We’re also joined by Jacqueline Soller for a discussion of the recently released movie, Call Me By Your Name, directed by Luca Guadagnino and starring Armie Hammer, Timothée Chalamet, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Amira Casar. Along the way, we’ll also hear from Radio Dispatch’s Molly Knefel with her thoughts on the importance of holding those who’ve committed sexual harassment accountable; we’ll hear from a woman named Luciana about a particular roller coaster ride during which she actually feared for her life; and we’ll take an exclusive early listen to a performance by Glasgow rock outfit Pinact from an episode of BTR Live Studio set to be released next week.
